dalpozlead
Hi guys, just wanted to check... What should be the ideal SSD size for storing Omnisphe + Ivory II samples? Im trying to get the best price and dont want much more space that will need for those two VSTs. Thanks!
Throbert
If you're sure that's all you'll be needing, find out what they need and add 10% find an SSD that matches or the next bigger one that will work. Triton Extreme 76, Kawai ES3, GEM-RPX, HX3/Drawbar control, MSI Z97 MPower/4790K, Lynx Aurora 8/MADI/AES16e, OP-X PRO, Ptec, Komplete. willf
It very much depends on if you want/need full installations of Omnisphere and Ivory II. If so this will require in excess of 50GB+82GB respectively. Some sources suggest that SSD utilisation should be kept below 70% to avoid performance degradation - although in your case this might not be so much of an issue as you will be predominantly reading from the SSD. I have experienced such degradation on full SSDs although not when reading samples. This does not answer your question directly but I hope that it is of some help. Throbert
So get a 256GB SSD and your good to go. You might consider a large Mechanical along with and keep your most used on the SSD. johnchop
+1 I got a 120GB and wish I bought a bigger one! For Omnisphere and frequently used Kontakt libraries, it's been absolutely fantastic. I make software noises.
zephonic
The Samsung 840 EVO series gets rave reviews and are significantly cheaper than the competition. Something to consider.
