CEB
What are my best options for an in production 3 tier stand that is road worthy. Quick setup and stage footprint are important. I have a 3 tier Instandt that is a lot like the Standtastic. But the front to back footprint is LARGE. I have and A frame also, from the 80s but I would rather use the Instandt then that. Bottom board will be the S90XS. Middle tier will be single manual XK3c. On top possibly my old D-50 or an analog synth. I play from a bench. Trailer has side hangers for hooking the folded stand onto. I don't need to worry about breaking down into a small package. Also X-stands will not work because of my keyboard pedal case. Thanks. Michael Wright
I got my K&M stands and parts shipped from Thomann and was very happy with the costs. Shipping to the US was/is cheaper than here to Canada.

Michael Wright
I figured shiping from Europe would ckoke a goat. I've never ordered from Europe before. I just did not find a cheaper total (product plus shipping) for the items I wanted in NA, at least as far as getting something from the US to Canada. As far as pricing goes we dont pay the VAT and I did not get nailed for customs, nor taxes at the border. You can always use the shopping cart and calculate the costs to the US. I think these folks are in the US but only see one stacker on their site. http://www.musicstandsalone.com/konigmeyer

CEB
This is one of those deals that once I know what the show is going to be I will need something in January. It is possible it might work and it might not. I will know more come Monday. I like the looks of the stand. timwat
Agreed from the pic it looks like a pretty cool stand. I was tempted for a second, but the prospect of schlepping yet another keyboard to a gig...well...I think I threw up a little in the back of my mouth. .. richforman
Been very happy with my K&M Spider Pro too (same one CEB mentions). Much better in many ways than the Ultimate "Apex" column stand that was the the standard for so long. Its futuristic unique look on stage gets lots of attention and comments but that's not the main reason I like it better, that's just a bonus. Only down side has been, I haven't had any luck with several tries on the boom stand attachment piece, maybe I'm not gentle enough with it but it always sort of falls apart and I have gone back to just using a separate Hercules boom mic stand. CEB
If I do this I will be bringing a lot less stuff in total. Right now I also carry 3 or 4 guitars a big guitar pedal board and a amp. I won't be playing guitar if I am bring another synth. "It doesn't have to be difficult to be cool" - Mitch Towne "A great musician can bring tears to your eyes!!! MoodyBluesKeys
I've been using the K&M 18880 & 18881 for several years (I did not get a third tier). Very lightweight, made very solid from aircraft grade aluminum. Sets up/tears down quickly. I can't get the boards as close together as with my OnStage 2-tier Z stand; but wind up using the K&M anyhow. I purchased from the stands alone place - they had the stand, did not list the second tier, I just sent an email to them, and they got it for me, at a better price than the few other vendors in the US at the time. mul
Just to note about this stand. I have been using one with the second and thirds tier extensions. It is, as was stated very lightweight. There is a concertina style/ double x?? bracing that is attached for support. It's difficult to see in the pic posted above. The bottom of this bracing glides up and down on little runners on the side parts of the stand. On my stand these have long since perished and I had to reattach several times. Currently I have about six cable ties holding it together. I have probably made a meal out of explaining this. I hope you all can picture what I'm trying to say. WesG
FWIW - this stand is on my "to buy" list ever since I saw a local player using in single-tier mode this summer. It sets up and tears down in the blink of an eye, doesn't have any wierd protrusions that makes it hard to pack, and weighs almost nothing. rockinredeye
When I lugged three keyboards, that was my stand. Worked great, all steel, big footprint though. I even have the mic boom bracket, which was a space saver. Now I'm down to one Kurz PC3 and a table-like stand, but I can recommend Standtastic from experience. Great stand. RABid
I thought I would really like the Stantastic stands but ended up hating them. Big footprint, easy to set up lopsided, and the fingers/lips on the front of the arms are not big enough to securly hold keyboards with a slope in the front. I was always worried that my Motif would come slidding off. I have put a 2-tier stand behind a table stand and it turned out very well. This works if the middle keyboard does not need to be tilted. This post edited for speling.
Sparky2
I find the Standastic easy to set up straight every time. I just marked the desired position for the braces with a piece of tape. I also put some of this rubber weatherseal strip on the arms and nothing ever slides on them. It comes in brown and has a very low profile so it sticks to the sliding piece and barely rises above the arm. I have 4 boards on a tall version in the studio with some pretty drastic tilt and no problems. "Think Pink Floyd are whiny old men? No Problem. Losendoskeys
You could get one of these Quiklok Z726 and add a third tier. The steel version is particularly good and weighty to support three keyboards. I like the front-back adjustment and how close you can get the boards vertically. http://www.gear4music.com/media/3969/600/preview.jpg Yamaha CP70B;Roland XP30/AXSynth/Fantom/FA76/XR;Hammond XK3C SK2; Korg Kronos 73;ProSoloist Rack+; ARP ProSoloist; Mellotron M4000D; GEM Promega2; Hohner Pianet N, Roland V-Grand,Voyager XL, RMI
