Synthoid
I've heard there is always lot of "sickness" being passed around, quarantines, and such. I'd have to bring a supply of surgical masks/gloves/Lysol/vitamin C/etc.. There are other disadvantages as well: http://a.abcnews.com/images/International/ap_Italy_Cruise_ship_Aground_120114_wg.jpg When an eel hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's a Moray. DulceLabs.com
I hear you, Majuscule! If I were in my 20's, single, and childless, I wouldn't hesitate! Unfortunately I am no longer any of those things. And telling one's spouse that one is off to a floating party for less money than one makes at home is not a recipe for marital bliss. LMAO - I'm in my 40s, married with a kid... Asked my wife what she thought about me doing this.. she's ready drive me to the port...

JohnH
Did 8 years and it was awesome. No sickness, and no ships that were so huge you got lost in them it was a great time and I went from ok to much better as a musician . 5 of the 8 were here in LA so had somewhat of a decent home life with friends and family twice or once a week. No way I'd have lasted without it.
Brettymike
Yes , I think a ship cruise gig could/would be totally awesome for a younger/unattached musician. 18 of us had a fantastic holiday(as passengers) back in 2007 on a 1400 passenger P&O cruise. We loved the bands and guest muso's , and they seemed to be having a great time too. The only remote danger for muso's (and passengers) is this > http://youtu.be/R2Ch397Ipps Brett

They did raise it to be towed for scrap. "Danny, ci manchi a tutti. La E-Street Band non e' la stessa senza di te. Anyone considering a ship gig , go for it , don't hesitate. A young party person would have a ball. If you get sea sick easily - DON'T go. HammondDave
Also, understand that you will be bunking with a roommate... And that could be a disaster! zephonic
That was not the case for us. We all had our own cabin, and I'm pretty sure all the crew did. gear list.pdf
