analogman1
They Keyboard review says NO but the developers site says yes. Any users out there? I already have one non-midi mellotron (super manetron) and don't want another unless it has midi capability. Your thoughts??? Daniel Heslop
I thought the super manetron was midi? I have it but seldom get my ipod out of my wifes hands long enough to plug in my irig midi, so I haven't tried. If not I like ellatron better if it is limited to a touch screen (which = not using it for anything serious at all) What about sampletank? I have it with a few mellotron samples on my mac mini. It took up too much space to put on my ipod though. Stage: Korg Krome 88. Craig MacDonald
I haven't tested it with midi, but there is now a midi light that I presume is intended to indicate midi activity so I have to assume it has midi now.. I don't recall it having this light before and I suspect this is a result of a recent update. Tobias Åslund
I don't know about the Mellotronics, but the super Manetron does in fact have midi. I just tried it with a CME m-key straight into my iPad 4 (running iOS 6), via a camera connection kit. It works. Now, the midi is simple - there are no settings for it. It always respond on all channels (omni), so you can't set it to one midi channel only which limits the use of the app, IMO. The bottom line though - the Super Manetron does have midi. Too much stuff, too little time, too few gigs, should spend more time practicing...! 🙄 main instruments: Nord Stage 3 compact, Yamaha CP88, Kurzweil PC4, Viscount KeyB Legend Live

tdintbl
Went and asked. Here's the answer from Martin who runs Streetly. "Yes Sean, the app has midi, virtual midi, audiobus and more sounds. There will be in app purchases of new sounds in the next few months. It sounds fantastic! Best M" www.facebook.com/thelongblackveils Rock and Roll from Central California. Second album underway. Dana.
This is just for iPad? Will there be a version for iPhone?
analogman1
I bought it so now I own both! That's the beauty of the whole App world! They are so inexpensive that it's just easier to purchase a few and use whatever is best. Thanks for all of the great opinions and insight! Much appreciated. tdintbl
Well for all interested go sign up at the Yahoo group "newmellotrongroup" it's where everyone is. THICK SKIN IS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION You were warned. It is a raucous group, also very very well informed about Mellotrons and all things pertaining thereunto. Traffic comes and goes sometimes, but there's always something going on. www.facebook.com/thelongblackveils Rock and Roll from Central California. Second album underway. Hammond organs are my drug. AnotherScott
Also, does anyone know, does the app run in the background? (I read one review that said it didn't, but the info could be out-dated.) Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Daniel Heslop
So slight de-rail. I had deleted ellatron pro from my ipod touch in favour of manetron, however I knew I am not likely to set up the irig midi, so I decided to go back to ellatron as I like it better for the ipod and it has more sounds. I had bought the pro version.....which is now gone!!! It isn't among my apps on my mac, and it doesn't show up in the app store, only three free versions one with orchestral sounds, one with organ sounds and one with synth sounds. I'm annoyed with this because a) I paid for the thing, b) with all those sounds in one app I could put one of any of those sounds on the upper keyboard and one of any of the others on the lower. Not the end of the world, but when you buy an app one expects it to stick around. grrrr Stage: Korg Krome 88. AnotherScott
If you have an itunes backup that pre-dates its disappearance from the i-store, you may be able to reinstall it. I've done that sort of thing to re-install an older version of an app. I don't remember the details off-hand, but I wanted to let you know that it's possible. Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out!
