desertbluesman
We stayed at the 4 Queens, but the whole Fremont Street area is a little run down. We are used to the strip where the Casino's are a little more upscale, and so are the clientele. No more Fremont Street for us. Only lost 6 bucks and Lynda won 15. The whole trip only cost us $216 including hotels, food, & gasoline. dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music

desertbluesman
Thanks Larryz, and Minte; There was actually some good performers out in the street on Fremont Street. There was a good facsimile of Elvis in front of one Casino, performing every night and there were several bands performing on a stage on the north side of the street. There was a killer singer/acoustic player on the bridge between Ceasers Palace and the Belagio. Really nice voice, and pretty good player using some nice extended chording. dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
whitefang
200 and change was an exceptional deal. Cost me $800 when I went back in 2000, and two following trips cost the same. And I thought I got off cheap! The best meal deal we found was at BARBARY COAST, a prime rib dinner for only $9.99. We thought for that price, even if the prime rib was thin and grisly, it was less expensive than many of the buffets people rave about. Turned out the prime rib was a plate covering inch-thick piece of cut-with-a-fork tender first rate steak! Our biggest disappointment was breakfast. In "The city that never sleeps", it would figure that many people might not turn in until four or five AM, and NOT wake up until noon or later, looking for some breakfast food. Turned out( at least when WE were there) that all of the casino/hotel buffets quit serving breakfast at 10 or 11 AM! We had to go to a DENNY'S on the strip to get any kind of traditional breakfast. Other than that, we had a great time. No music on the street when we were there. Just sleazy looking individuals handing out hooker flyers. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
desertbluesman
It usually costs us nothing for room rent because we have players club cards at all Harrah's Casinos. So they send us offers which sometimes include free stays at The Paris or Rio. Have not had any offers like that lately. We went to Fremont Street because there was a group tour from our community and 6 folks from our streets happy hour crew went on the trip. We booked too late to make the bus trip, but we got rooms for $70.06 for the two nights we were there. No more Fremont Street for us, back to the strip we go, to the Paris or Rio next time. Even though we don't get the free room offers anymore we do get discounted rooms with our players club cards. dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
