jlrush
I haven't posted for quite a while, and am a bit reluctant to post this, but was encouraged by another forum member to do it any way. On the eve of our new CD release about two weeks ago, our local paper said some nice things about us. Here's the article: http://www.columbiatribune.com/arts_life/after_hours/local-blues-band-delivers-the-goods-on-new-release/article_1fe94964-5b50-11e2-b7c3-00127992bc8b.html#.UQQ2UPImaSo Another development for us is that we'll be playing in Memphis next week for the 2013 International Blues Challenge. picker
Good luck, dude. While you're at the IBC, check out Jason Vivone and the Billy Bats if you get the chance. He's a friend of mine, and his band has a really fun take on the blues. I mean, what else could you say about a blues band with a 5 string banjo player? Always remember that youre unique. Just like everyone else.
jlrush
Thanks guys, We're looking forward to seeing Memphis and playing there. There can be some great opportunities at the IBC even if you don't win, so we plan to do as much networking as we can while there. We are hopeful that we will place well. Picker-we're doing three shows in April with JV&BB and another band from St. Louis, it's called The Missouri Blues Revue, with shows in KC, Columbia and StL. Totally agree, Eddie, which is why I encouraged Jim to post that here. With any luck, I'm going to catch their show here in STL on Feb 23! Groove Mama
Got to hear Jim's band yesterday. Omigosh, they were FANTASTIC!!! That is one tight little blues band! The place was absolutely packed; no place to sit OR stand. In fact, we had to sit outside and listen...and it was 34 degrees! Sadly, I didn't get a chance to talk to Jim, but he played AWESOME!!!!! Way to represent, JL! Looking forward to your return engagement. Queen of the Quarter Note "Think like a drummer, not like a singer, and play much less." -- Michele C. jlrush
Thanks for your enthusiastic support Nancy. I appreciate it. But you were lucky enough to miss one song in particular. It had a couple of real 'clams' as Eddie would say. Picker, we'll be at Knucklehead's on April 25th, part of what we're calling the Missouri Blues Caravan. Three bands: us, a band from KC, and one from St. Louis. KC the 25th, Columbia the 26th and St. L the 27th. The idea is to help each band pick up a few fans from the different cities. Should be fun! I'll let you know somehow and try to give you a reminder a week ahead of time. Visit my band's new web site. www.themojoroots.com
