Kawai James
Hello folks, My name is James, some of you may know me from the Digital Piano forum over at PianoWorld. I'm employed by Kawai Japan to prepare owner's manuals, brochures, and various other materials for the international market. As mentioned above, I'm quite active on PianoWorld's Digital Piano forum, answering queries about Kawai instruments and digital pianos in general. I've been a Keyboard Corner lurker for a while, so finally decided to register in order to answer queries about Kawai's current stage instruments (MP10, MP6, ES7), and upcoming models that may appeal to a slightly different type of player. Please note that I'm not here to sell you anything, and will try to offer an unbiased opinion whenever possible - even if this means recommending a competitor's product. By the same token, I'm not a technical support expert. While I'm happy to assist with operation and functionality queries on Kawai boards, I'm not in a position to deal with hardware repairs or warranty/servicing claims. Such queries should also be handled by the Kawai dealer and/or distributor. Outside of Kawai, I own an old Korg synth and a couple of Nord boards, and play keys with a '60s-styled funk/soul/jazz band. I don't profess to be much of a player, but love playing music. That's all for now - thanks for reading! Cheers, James x Employed by Kawai Japan, however the opinions I express are my own. Nord Electro 3 & occasional rare groove player. For those who don't know James, he really is an invaluable resource with regard to all things Kawai, but a complete Nord fanboy once the office closes! I believe you and I have had some interaction on the Nord User Forum discussing tube preamps for our Electro 3 keyboards. This place is an incredible resource. Yes, that's right. I recently picked up a second preamp in order to run them together in stereo. I also have a couple of JJ replacement tubes on order too! b3halt
Welcome to the forum, James! I still think Kawai makes one of the best DPs. I used to have the MP9500, and I really loved it. Unfortunately I lost it because my house was on fire a couple of months ago. I'm a Nord user as well. If you feel culture shocked or something strange in Japan, you can talk to me because I'm in Japan. I used to live in the US for a long time, so I know many differences. 58 Hammond B3, 74 Leslie 122, 61 Leslie 45, Viscount KeyB Legend Live, Hammond SK1, SK2, Nord C2D, Crumar Mojo, Neo Ventilator II, Mini Vent for Organ, Burn, Kawai MP11, Casio PX-350, etc.
