kwyn
Very general question but, I got the full version of Kontakt 5 for christmas. I had the free player before this with Galaxy Vintage D. So, I messed around with the included libraries in Kontakt 5 full, so what should I do with it now? I mostly play Jazz, Blues, Rock by myself. Analogaddict
If you want vintage keys, check out the Scarbee libraries provided by Native Instruments. VERY nice stuff.
mcgoo
Lock yourself in a room for several hours. Scratch the surface. Once scratched, sniff. If it smells good, dig deep! NewImprov
I've had Kontakt for years, as part of their Komplete collection (Kollection?). I second the recommendation for the Scarbee libraries, honestly, the Scarbee Rhodes through a good amp sim sounds better than my Mark I. I got Studio Drummer and the Abbey Road 60's Drummer libraries with the last Komplete upgrade, and have been delving into them lately. These libraries come with MIDI loops to trigger the sounds, and the grooves are very nice. I'm a terrible drum programmer, so this has been very useful for me. Also, Session Strings is very nice for doing quick, decent-sounding pop string arrangements. kwyn
Oh yeah. I forgot I have abbey rd 60s. Does scarbee come with a good amp sim?
Al Coda
... so what should I do with it now? upgrade to Komplete 8 (or 8 ultimate),- what else ? Now as you have Kontakt licence for free as a basis,- it´s the cheapest deal thinkable. I don´t know when Komplete 9 will appear ... It could be it´s worth the wait upgrading. A.C. Al Coda
Does scarbee come with a good amp sim? No. But you´d have the full guitar rig range of amps, spkrs and mics in Komplete (7 and 8). I´m fine w/ Komplete 7 up to now,- but I suppose you got Kontakt 5,- so your upgrade would be Komplete 8 incl. Guitar Rig 5. Now, you have Kontakt,- don´t miss Burningbush´s Rhodes mkV from Purgatory Creek website. It´s freeware/donationware. B.t.w., there are also killer VST freeware amp sims in the web. A.C. kwyn
Btw, I won't be able to play with this for a while. How are the NI organs compared with VB3? I
yannis D
I personally like NI's organs a lot, they're a little "cleaner" less edgy IMO. But they have much more variety as far as presets/different settings etc and you will also have the transistor organs and the different console hammond models. As far as "pure" hammond tone, i think the VB3 is a hair better. But having the hole NI/scarbee library under your fingers and running the Komplet standalone will make u forget the VB3. Be grateful for what you've got - a Nord, a laptop and two hands
