Rockhouse
He was my first exposure to sitar. What a loss. American Keyworks AK24+ Diablo (with bow), Hammond L100, Korg M3 expanded, Korg Sigma, Yamaha MM8, Yamaha SY99
mate stubb
I saw him open for Mahavishnu Orchestra around 1973. It was mind blowing. RABid
The first time I saw him on TV I immediately started looking for his music. Not an easy thing since I had no idea how to spell his name at the time and there was no search engine for me to enter Best sitar player in the world. This post edited for speling. Tusker
When musicians from around the world can have a conversation which uplifts everyone it makes me hopeful. RIP Mr. Shankar. Music is the best!!
Eric Iverson
I was surprised to see keyboard players interested in him; I thought it was more of a thing for GUITAR players, since so many of us did half-ass "ragas" back in the day. Ravi at the time (1967 or so) knew that a lot of the interest in his music was just a superficial fad, although of course that wasn't EVERYBODY... Coltrane even named his son after him, and he recorded with Western classical superstars... Part of the hippie era, but never a hippie... he hated it when people smoked dope and "carried on indecently with their girlfriends" at his concerts. He was 47 in 1967, so he wasn't a naive kid. richwhite9
That's Funny. I was thinking of grabbing a picture of Norah Jones and jerking off in thanks. The man that brought you Ragnarok Vikings! If George hadn't found Eric in a bar we'd be listening to "While my sitar gently weeps" Explain to me Ravi, why that frigid daughter of yours couldn't come? Seriously. It makes me want to watch the Concert for Bangladesh again. If there is one country that has improved its standard of living in 40 years Bangladesh would be among the most notable turnarounds from that bloody 1970 era. Easily the most loveable moment for an ex-Beatle despite Alan Klein's packaging scam.

Well, the problem with KC's "set to ignore" feature is that when the chosen person has posted, you get a message that says something like "you have chosen to ignore posts from this member." Of course, curiosity kicks in and you're compelled to read their idiotic dribble anyway. ____________________________________Rod victoria bc
