midinut
Just curious as to what the "going rate" is for getting a piano tuned. My GF has a rather nice Yamaha Spinet in the Living Room that has been moved from halfway across the country. It's been settled in now for over 6 months and we have found a guy who has offered but hasn't mentioned price yet. I just want to get an idea of what we should expect to pay and what is fair. Any thoughts? Experiences? David Loving
I pay mine $100 - $150 depending on what the action needs in addition. It's a spinet - Baldwin Acrosonic 1946. "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."

kanker.
Depends. If it's my local tuner, $75-100. If I have Alfredson tune it, I just gotta spoon him for about 15-20 minutes. A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.

Entirely too much information. Thanks guys, that helps give me an idea anyway. JeffLearman
My guy charges by time, about $90/hr. He's spent two hours both times, but in the future should need less, since the piano hadn't been maintained very well and was a bit of a special case, and he's done quite a bit more than just tune it. I like that he charges per hour, because then I don't feel bad if I pester him with questions before or after his tuning session. My wife says he should charge double for that. David Loving
The last thing my tech ever wants to do is shoot the sh!t about pianos with me, while he is working He is great about telling me what he did when he is done.
