simus35
here more info i got from a guy in the fender forum What we have here is an example of an original American Standard Strat that by this time, had received a few minor updates since their debut in 1987/1988. Compared to earliest models, this version features: * Fender's "spaghetti" logo vs. the old silver transition-style logo. * Fender's Delta Tone system: the bridge pick up is slightly hotter and the no-load tone control took the place of the old TBX circuit. The American Standard pickups have remained the same until 2000 when the line was renamed "American Series". The pickups were essentially the same except that they were now staggered instead of flat. These pickups have only recently been supplanted by Fender's Custom Shop Fat 50's. Actually; since your Strat is a '99 model, it may be transition model between the "Standard" and "Series" change. If that is the case, your guitar may have the H-S-H pickup routing vs. the universal (aka; "swimming pool" route) and have body contours that more closely match the original Stratocaster body. The headstock still has two string trees and does not have staggered tuners. The original 2-point American Standard differs from the current production unit in that it uses so-called block saddles with an off-set screw vs the vintage style bent-steel saddles with a center screw. The current American Deluxe tremolo is a variant of the original American Standard. sorry for my english i'm a french Canadien fender 65 Twin Reverb reissue Fender Stratocaster 1999 MIA Fender Stratocaster 2013 MIA Godin Artisan ST-5 Godin LG Signature Seagull S6 Yes I love Godin guitar

CEB
Congrats. I want Strat that isn't black. The blonde and pearloid pickguard looks great. That would be nice or maybe a white one with a one of those reddish tortise shell pickguards. Though I need another guitar like I need a another whole in the head. That is a sweet guitar. A String
Beautiful guitar! Anyone know when they stopped putting the serial number on the head? Craig Stringnetwork on Facebook String Network Forum My Music
Larryz
Don't know about the serial numbers, it's on the back of the headstock on all of my Strats going back to the late 90's...I did notice the two string trees (which none of mine have). Take care, Larryz
Junior 1
Nice Strat! I too have a black Strat. 1997 MIM with a maple board. Always wanted to upgrade to a natural ash American. Damn kids had to go to college. Enjoy it.

p90junior
I have an Am. Tele that matches the finish on your strat, I never thought about it but I guess it's ash (and hefty). it's very cool looking. Enjoy your strat, man... there's nothing else like a good strat!!! p90junior
By the way, a cheap, quick, easy and nifty mod for strats is the Villex three-position mid-boost output jack... kind of in the vein of the Clapton mid-boost. http://www.villex.com/images/booster_front.JPG http://www.villex.com/stratocaster_jack_replacement_booster.html
ThisSiteSucks
Very nice, very nice indeed. Word of warning however: See that nice banding on that case (iirc, those are SKB cases)...it's metal. Be careful putting in and taking out that Strat or it'll be more nicked-up than Jamie Lee in a Halloween movie!
