I was never a fan of Disco, but the Bee Gees made that genre better, even to those of us that didn't care for it.

I always enjoyed listening to the Bee Gees, I saw a number of videos of them and those guys could SING.

I am guessing he really suffered. RIP Robin.

The only disco royalty if you ask me. "Night Fever" and "Jive Talking" are such great songs...

May he rest in peace. He was not only a great singer with a unique voice, but also a great songwriter. How deep is your love is one of my all time favorite ballads.

Great talents in that family, sad to see another one go.

I don't harbor ANY resentment to the artists who promoted disco. None at all. The blame should go to the major labels who browbeated that crap onto the masses.

The Bee Gees were a musical group which originally comprised three brothers: Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their decades of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a pop act in the late 1960s/early 1970s, and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s.
Many forget what a pop act they were initially, so as their disco era overshadowed it.

The early BeeGees songs were excellent (i.e. Gotta Get a Message To You, Massachussetts, I started a Joke, Holiday, etc.) and Robin sang lead on many of the older songs. These guys were real talented. The disco stuff was their second coming. Godspeed Robin.

This is sad. Disco was never my cup of tea but it had a glamor and brought back a new focus on the dancefloor.

This is arguable but in my view The BeeGees sound was the signature sound of disco at it's best. (of course not forgetting their non-disco tunes) This was not just music but an ethereal 'feel' that transcended the music that was undefinable. Most of the music was 'up' in feeling for a change. Many with 1/4 note bass-drum accents. Disco dance floors were intoxicatingly surreal filled with rhythm and fantasy mixed with some colorful cloths.

The Bee Gees hit that nerve of that sound getting people dressed up again and hitting the dancefloor even taking dancing lessons. Like I said, not my music but the masses loved it!!

I loved their earlier work. Many of my friends thought they were too mellow. Disco was quite a switch musically. It goes to show that if you're really talented, you can do different genre and still be great.

We have lost a great talent. Their music lives on.
