Trouble with Roland RD 700 layer volume

Recommended Posts

It looks like my RD700 has been dropped by the road crew and ever since when I layer strings with the piano I have no control of volume. I was able to use the sliders in the past.

I did a hard reset per Roland sight (thru edit rest all) and it didn't help. Is there a place to go internally to reset this?

Main volume works but not track volume on each layer (3- strings 4- piano). The on off switches above turn on off but no slider control.

That sucks! Is the hard reset the same as Factory Reset? Do any of the 4 sliders work on any other Patch or Set Up?

How about re-installing or installing the most current Operating system?

Of course, you can always use a pedal to bring the strings in & out, if that works for your situation.

Yes, the "Factory reset All" so I lost any patches that I built. I was hoping there was a place to assign these faders but I can't seem to find it. Very frustrating, since I really use the layers but like to have this control to balance the layers.

Have them get you a new one. Their insurance should cover it, and the team should get the signal not to drop your gear!

Do these faders do any other function that you can test? My guess is that the pots themselves have failed, in which case no settings will help.

The only other function that the faders are used for is for the drawbars while using the Tonewheel engine. May check that. Would be odd if the drawbar function worked.

The only place you can assign the faders to is the 2 FC pedals and the Control Switchor the buttons while in Edit. You could assign two expression pedals for two layers and the third to the Control Sw, but what a pain.

Sounds like its time for that upgrade. Too bad you lost all of your Set Ups.

Indeed, if the faders work the drawbars the problem is a programming one, which would probably be a good thing...

Just a thought.

I wonder if opening it up and inspecting the board may result in finding something loose or out a place. ??

clpete, I will try the tone wheel organ and see if they work. My next step is to open her up and see if anything is loose. I may order some trays (keys) and the back stop felt and replace the middle trays while it is open.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Learjeff, Being the new guy I am not inclined to ruffle feathers at this point. Especially if I can fix it myself. The last keyboard player is still talked about because he could not fix anything. Not even his sustain peddle!!!
