blong5150
A couple of weeks ago, I posted this. I've gotta say it went better than I expected but I also learned some things. My main concern was my nerves. I settled down about half way into the first song and had a lot of fun. I only had one embarrassing moment when we played P.Y.T. I got my vocal mic confused with my vocoder mic. Can't wait till we ditch that song so I don't need it. Otherwise, I learned real quick that a simple rig is a must. Too much crap going on with 3 boards, a laptop, an iPad, a mixer, and a guitar! I picked up a MOX6 this week which completely addressed that situation. It allowed me to ditch the XP-80, the Arturia Lab61, the mixer, my 2nd keyboard stand, and the external vocoder. Also, the advice about getting a personal monitor for keyboards saved my life. I had no issues hearing myself as I controlled my own mix. Looking forward to this Friday! We play 37 Main which is more like a concert setup (incredible sound and lights).... A lot of the bands from the 80's and 90's play there. I've seen Warrant, Drivin and Cryin', and a bunch of tribute bands there. Cool place. J. Dan
I learned real quick that a simple rig is a must. Too much crap going on... +1000 That's why over the years I had searched and search for an all-in-one board and ended up with the Kronos. I think back to the days of multiple keyboards, rack modules, effects, custom switching arrangments I built myself, vocoders....it gets messy. Even with a 2 keyboard rig, ALL the sounds are coming from the Kronos, period. Mix it in one board, done.
