Dana.
I just read "Mojos" as "Mojitos." Long day. Clearly I need one or three.
Joe Muscara
I'm sure there are no backlogs of mojitos. Get you some. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! LX88
Looks like Mojo madness is back. I * might* be interested in getting a Mojo, but I have a lot of questions. So I hope Guido makes an appearance here and might be open to some discussion ( hint). I have never ordered ANYTHING sight unseen, and the Mojo is certainly not inexpensive. Summer gigs and rental season is coming up and my last clonewheel purchase ( a Numa ) has more than earned its keep in recording and gig rentals. But I was able to hear one before purchasing it, and had established a good relationship with American Music and Sound regarding product support. The Numa has an almost unprecedented 2 year warranty, which really gave me confidence in it. There were no issues during that time. Now that instrument has been passed on to a local player who used it on a rental and HAD to have it. So I am clonewheel shopping again. For me, whatever I get has to be Italian, something Key B or something with a VB3 engine. I had a chance to hear the Nord and Hammond Suzuki oferings and sorry, but I am just not interested in getting something that is going to require an outboard leslie sim. So the Mojo may be the next logical choice.
Joe Muscara
the Mojo is certainly not inexpensive. Compared to other dual-manual clones, it is less expensive, and even when you compare bundles, $2929 for the bundle I'd buy is less than my estimate of somewhat comparable bundles of the SK2 and Nords. The Numa has an almost unprecedented 2 year warranty From the site "Crumar warrants the mechanical and electronic components to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of 2 years from the original date of purchase." I guess that's what you mean by "almost unprecedented"? "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! LX88
Joe thanks for the info on the Crumar Warranty. This is the first mention I have seen of that. That probably does not include labor though, which is often the big expense in any repair. The bare bones price on the Mojo of under 2600 dollars is very tempting, along with the 20 different organ models. To my knowledge that is unprecedented. I am curious to hear feedback about how that is working out for the owners of these.
Joe Muscara
If you go to the Purchase page on the Crumar web site and click on "Click here for ordering info / terms and conditions" you can read the terms of the warranty for yourself. Those who have Mojos here on KC haven't posted about them in a while, everything was positive when they did. I'm sure if they had something new to say like if a problem cropped up, they would. No news is good news. That might be unprecedented. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! HammondDave
Regarding warranties, if you pay with the right credit card, your one year warranty is extended to two years. I have taken advantage of his extra perk a few times, with little hassle.... LX88
I read the terms and conditions of the Mojo warranty on the Crumar site and although the Mojo is covered for two years, the terms state that the service work has to be done by Crumar or a Crumar dealer. Also it is a bit unclear if the cost of shipping to Crumar would need to be covered by the owner. They are saying that if the service is justified that they would cover return shipping. My apologies for going on and on about this - but - it is fairly uncommon to have to deal with a company half way around the globe. I am much more used to dealing with a local shop or at least a distributor within this country. Guido and Crumar have decided to sell direct, but this is one area that may not be to the advantage of the customer. Also.... I imagine the down time that would be involved if your instrument had to go to Italy and back for service. I hate to have to look at worst case scenarios but in a few cases I have seen them come true. I bought an early Nord Electro in 2005 and it went belly up the first day I had it. I was also subject to Yamaha P-90 key breakage. Yamaha was good about that - they installed a complete keybed when I had only one broken key. Those keybeds will still be replaced by Yamaha, whoever owns it and however old it is. That's great service. I am waiting to hear back from Crumar to try to clarify this issue. AnotherScott
Yeah, in the U.S., it seems that, for all intents and purposes, the warranty is parts only, because there are no Crumar dealers, and the cost to ship the Mojo to Italy will almost certainly be higher than what you'd pay in labor for a local tech to do the repair. Still, the Mojo is hundreds less than its competitors. So unless you end up needing $300+ in labor service over the first year, it's still the lowest cost 2-manual clone. Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
LX88
The Mojo is still being listed as being out of stock on the Crumar site. Meanwhile I am curious as to if someone would need to buy their leslie switch. I see a half moon listed but I would not be interested.... if there are no pedals a foot switch would be a better option.
mate stubb
Not sure what you are saying exactly, but you can get either or both a half moon and a dual footswitch. They plug into the same jack. I prefer the half moon. Moe --- "I keep wanting to like it's sound, but every demo seems to demonstrate that it has the earth-shaking punch and peerless sonics of the Roland Gaia. LX88
What I am saying is.... do you have to buy their foot switch or can you use an after market switch. My Numa works great with an FC7 and the sustain pedal from a Roland digital piano.
mate stubb
I haven't tried an after market switch, the Mojo one was so cheap. It's a simple TRS connector though, so it should be easy to make work. I have tried the FC-7 in place of the Mojo long throw swell pedal and it works fine.
