Question on Splits on the S90XS

Still learning about setting up performances on a new Yamaha S90 XS and have a question on splits. Easily done, but one thing I could not figure out how to do or find in the manual is to change the octave range for the individual voices in a new performance. The performance I am trying to create has two voices: Strings on the top two octaves and piano for the rest of the keyboard. The octave shift button on the panel affects the entire keyboard, but only the strings need to be lowered by one octave to be in the proper playing range without changing the range of the piano. Anyone know how to do that on the XS?

I've done it in Performance Mode. Just setup the individual voices for the Performance and go to performance edit mode and select the voice number ( Not Common). Then select Play Mode.

In Play mode go to some that call Note Limit Low/ Hi (it is something like that) From there you can set your key range on the voice. Do that for all the voices to establish your split location.

I am not home and in front of the keyboard but I think this is close to how I did it. If you don't find it I can sit down at the board tonight and look.

Good Luck.

PS - You might have to have to go into Play Mode - Note Shift at times to adjust the pitch of your voices. I setup an Electric Bass / Piano split for a few songs where our bass play plays acoustic guitar and I had to raise the bass up an octave because I wanted the split point lower so I had bigger zone for piano.

Thanks for the reply. I think this is what I need, but I am not in front of the board either. Split point is not a problem - it's the pitch I need to adjust. I did look at all the edit screens including the one called "Play" but did not see anything to adjust the pitch with. So I will give it another try when I'm in front of the board.

Thanks!

As was said its edit part number play mode then scroll to note shift . Turn the dial to plus 12, 24. For one or two octaves or to - 12- 24 for lowering 1 to 2 octaves.

RE: "play mode". From the edit menu, Choices are Common, then below that voices 1-4, once you pick a voice to edit there is a choice of "Play Mode". I may be blind but did not see "note shift" as an option there. (unfortunately I am not in front of the board right now, but will check this out again when I am)

Thanks!
