RABid
I've tried everything from the cheap buds that come with Apple products to the high end Ultimate Ears triple. Polk Audio UltraFit 3000 Headphones are the only earbuds that I've been able to keep in place when I move around. They are not pure buds. There is an around-the-ear component that bends to hold the bud in place. I can use them for biking, jogging or playing drums with no problems. This post edited for speling. Skinny
This is not OT. I've heard good things about Futuresonics Atrios. Never used them personally, but everything I've heard and read is positive. Stuff and things.
Tonysounds
For earbuds, I love the Futuresonic Atrios. Ive had them for 9 years, and only had them replaced once about 2 years ago (wire failure), and they gave me a severely discounted price (because they were well out of warranty). Keep in mind that earbuds are NOT the same as In Ear monitors. I have a set of Sensaphonics in ears with dual drivers and they sound great, they dont come out (cuz duhtheyre In Ear! Seriously, though, theyre molded by and for your ear canal). They are awesome for onstage monitoring, but I would not use them for iPod use, or non-performance listening. Hitting "Play" does NOT constitute live performance. -Me.
Mr. B.
I hate to write this but the type famous and up coming acts use. Do not know the company name its not on the silicone but mine are pro made, silicone put in the ears then electronics added. Had 15 years no worries yet, vocals are incredible. I need to find out who repairs them for the future.

Tonysounds
Ultimate Ears and Sensaphonics (and higher end Futuresonics) are all molds. Hitting "Play" does NOT constitute live performance. -Me.

Dual drivers makes perfect sense. Apart from not falling out so easily, any other advantage to the custom mold? Basically, if I had dual-driver buds that were a perfect fit to my ear, would they work well as IEMs? What else does one look out for in IEMs? Tonysounds
If you have a good quality ear bud, like the Futuresonic Atrios, that is definitely fine. They come out easier (you arent just going to pull your in-ear mold out to check pitch, and pop it back in), go in easier, obviously are much less expensive, and save you an audiology visit, but the downside is youre more prone to pull them in and out during a show, or leave one in and one out (the worst thing you can do). You dont necessarily need dual drivers (the Atrios are single drivers and sound much better, and more musical than my dual driver Shure E5s, which also are just ear buds). A good sounding driver is a good sounding driver. Ear buds do tend to fall out when you sweat if theyre not a nice snug fit. To Clarify: in ear refers to the mold (fit to your ear canal), not the 'dual driver' aspect. Hitting "Play" does NOT constitute live performance. -Me. Ashville.Guru
Thanks, man. I hope to find some of these to try out in the near future. Markyboard
They are awesome for onstage monitoring, but I would not use them for iPod use, or non-performance listening. How come Tony? Is it because they are true to the mix(vice fun to listen to) or because of having to hassle with putting them in?

pizzafilms
Without a doubt, my JH Audio JH-16's are the best money I ever spent. They sound AWESOME. I use them for live gigs and they're simply the best. I also have a pair of JH-5's and they're fantastic for the price point. Jerry Harvey is a pro and knows what he's talking about. His products are basically the next generation of Ultimate Ears (originally his company). See if you can find a local dealer that has demo units to try. You really should hear the difference when you're spending that much money. Look no further.
