e-keys
I had heard the width of the roland g series keys were narrower than that of a standard weighted action key. Sure enough, at my local music store today I took an informal measurement and the keys on the roland gi are narrower. To my surprise, I also took a measurement of the yamaha mox6 and it also had a narrower key. If you measure the 61 note span (C-C) on one of these boards and compare it to a fully weighted keyboard (the distance of 5 octaves), you will see what I am talking about. Interesting that my axiom controller is the proper width. I was wondering about the pc361 and the casio wk-p1. Can someone inform me if these keys are standard size. Also, I wonder how much this interferes with proper playing.
dalpozlead
This always got me nuts, it seems that theres no standard for lightweight keybeds I have 4 different measures comparing 5 octaves from my Triton Extreme, CP33, K2661 and DW8000. I like the FS measurements/action on the extreme the most.
AnotherScott
The Yamaha S30 was definitely short. I like to align my unweighted action so that the keys line up with the 88 underneath, but could never get it quite right with that one... Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
HammondDave
This drives me crazy as well.... As much as Iike my Motif XS7, I don't like the fact that the keys are narrower than a piano, and a B3. Seannn
My Roland Juno-G keys do seem narrower than my Juno-60/Korg R3/DX7 (and various other organs and such lying around), but I haven't measured them. My favourite keys are the DX7 ones. ~ Sean Juno-60, Juno-G, MicroBrute, MS-20 Mini, PX-5S, R3, etc.
