Joe Muscara
Frederick - maybe you missed my question. "Tilted panel and upper manual for better ergonomics" How much are these tilted, especially the upper manual? Do you think someone who is used to real Hammonds could be thrown off by it? "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Hoo hoo!" - Daffy Duck "The good news is that once you start piano you never have to worry about getting laid again. Easy to see the very gentle slope if you look at a pic. http://hammond.no/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Nord-C2D-organ-closeup-640x480.jpg Moe --- "I keep wanting to like it's sound, but every demo seems to demonstrate that it has the earth-shaking punch and peerless sonics of the Roland Gaia. Joe Muscara
I can definitely see the slope in the panel, I'm not sure about the upper manual. If the manual is that slight, what's the point? matted stump
I think it is mistaken ad copy. It makes no sense to tilt the manual. Joe Muscara
I keep hoping Frederick will reply since he has one of the silly things. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! FrederickS
The panel is tilted a bit. Manual is not tilted as far as i can feel. If it is is a minute tilt. I have also wondered about that statement My organ is with a friend since he is going in to a studion to record with it. I can double check on thursday when i get it back. If it had been tilted a lot my friend who also owns a B3 would have complained He also has a C1. He loves the C2d and will record with it using a Leslie. Hope I made the deadline /Frederick
Joe Muscara
Thanks, Frederick! Maybe you can ask the Nord guys about the tilting of the upper manual, explain to them that their ad copy is confusing if it isn't tilted. (I'm assuming that since you beta tested the C2D, you still or can talk to them.) "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Aidan
Apologies to Frederick if he's already posted this link elsewhere (he's certainly done so in the Nord forum, which is where I found it) but here is a great clip of the man himself and fellow organist Andreas Hellqvist playing up a storm on two C2Ds, one through a Leslie, the other through the PA. matted stump
Babelized: "From the Swedish showing for North C2d on JAM in Stockholm on 19 March 2012. Andreas Hellqvist and Frederick Somervill jammar loose in The Preacher on each C2d, Andreas consulted by means of a BK audio Galaxy 50 PA system and Fredericks through a Leslie 3300. Sound is recorded directly from an ordinary for microphones." Frederick, are you the guy with the white hair or the guy with the glasses? Nice playing by both! AnotherScott
Frederick, are you the guy with the white hair or the guy with the glasses? Nice playing by both! Funny way to put it... they're both wearing glasses! Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
Tobias Åslund
Andreas Hellqvist is the younger guy. Quite funny he's in this demo, since he is usually does demos for Swedish Hammond. Anyway, I might fix that translation: "From the Swedish showing of Nord C2D at JAM (a music store) in Stockholm on March 19th 2012. Andreas Hellqvist and Frederick Somervill jams on The Preacher, both playing C2D:s, Andreas' is heard through a BK Audio Galaxy 50 PA system and Frederick's through a Leslie 3300. Sound is recorded directly from an ordinary camera's microphones." matted stump
Frederick, are you the guy with the white hair or the guy with the glasses? Nice playing by both! Funny way to put it... they're both wearing glasses! I changed my post at the last minute, and it ended up not being too clear. Aidan
Frederick, I appreciate it's not your main focus but can you clarify how the drawbars on the C2D operate the on/off functions of the Farfisa and pipe organ models on board the instrument? Has Nord followed Hammond's SK series, in that anything above a certain drawbar number is "on" and anything below "off"? FrederickS
Pipe stops and farfisa works the way you describe it. I did not check the switch over point. I pull em all the way when I use the pipe sounds. The vox has drawbar functions simiar to the hammond And yes I am the white haired guy / Frederick
Gary75
I'd like to know if they're bringing out a new soft case, however sense dictates the C2 case is the relevant case for it.

Joe Muscara
For increased ergonomics the panel and upper manual has been tilted slightly towards the player and the panel between the manuals have a smooth surface that's easy on the hands when doing smears. Aidan
Obviously, Nord's marketing manager is not among those reading this forum. But that manual doesn't have a slope of any sort. Just compare the edge of the manual and the top of the side fascia.
