kwyn
When I first turn on the EQ, it seems that it is not applied until I turn a knob. In other words, the E3 doesn't recognize what position the knob is in until I turn it a little. Any way to fix that?? Also, when this happens, do I have to turn each knob a bit to get the E3 to recognize the EQ settings or if i just turn one does it recognize where all 4 are? Hope this makes sense. I wish, though, that I could just activate the EQ and the E3 would automatically pick up on where the knobs are. I'm not running the latest firmware. i think I have 3.00 Was this ever fixed? ITGITC
Yes. The knobs on any of these parameters need to be turned in order to track their position after you turn on the keyboard. This is normal. kwyn
So turn each knob or does turning one make the Nord pick up on all 4?
ITGITC
So turn each knob or does turning one make the Nord pick up on all 4? Turn each knob. Joe Muscara
I don't know about the E3, but I know those settings could be stored on the E2. IOW, if you know what EQ setting you like to start with for your Rhodes sound, you can store those with it. Further adjustments would behave similarly to what you describe, where you turn the knob until it "catches" the current setting, then you can turn to your heart's content. DanL
I agree w/ Joe, those settings should store with each patch. They do on my Stage. JeffLearman
This is how any keyboard with knobs and patches works. Whenever you call up a patch (including powering on), the values are set to the values saved with the patch. The knobs aren't motorized, so they don't jump to where they were when the patch was stored. After that, there are two different ways that keyboards work. On some, if you move the knob a bit, it jumps to the knob's current location. On others, you have to sweep the knob past the current value before it starts to track -- to avoid unintended jumps. It's a matter of choice which you prefer; the first is quicker/easier, and the latter avoids undesired jumps in the tone. Motorized knobs would be cool but who could afford them? In any case, it sounds to me that what you want is not per-patch EQ, but "master EQ". That's not what the NE3 has. To get that, you'd need to add a mixer. kwyn
Thanks Learjeff. I have a mixer, but want the EQ different for pianos vs. organ. I guess I could use left/right outputs for piano and organ and put them in different inputs on my mixer, but I sorta like having the Nord to Vent to Mixer to out... It's not a big deal to tweak the knobs a bit as I have their settings memorized, just was lookin to save myself that very minor inconvenience. ITGITC
Thanks Learjeff. Wait. I was the first to answer your question. ...AND a follow-up question at no extra charge! LearJeff came along and added a few whistles and bells, that's all. LearJeff, I think you owe me a beer for stealing my thunder. Yeah.
