mahinty
I was always under the impression that the NE3, like the NE2, is mono-timbral, but I went to a gig last night (First Aid Kit nice Swedish folk girls), and the keyboard player had an NE3 which sounded like it had a few splits points going on (bass in the left hand, Mellotron in the middle, and possibly a third sound (say, piano) at the top). Can you have multiple sounds across the NE3 keyboard? Incidentally, there was a Nord Stage sitting at the back of the stage I thought it was there as a back-up, as her NE3 had got water-damaged in transit and could have failed during the performance. I suppose she could have been controlling the NS2 via MIDI and used it as a sound source. But that makes no sense youd just play the Stage! If the NE3 is multi-timbral, that would easily justify an upgrade for me. AnotherScott
nope, monotimbral.... though its ability to load custom samples means that you could theoretically create a sample patch that had different sounds over different areas of the keyboard. Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
JeffLearman
Bingo. And a limitation of the custom samples is no velocity layers, unfortunately. Otherwise I'd be more geeked about upgrading from my NE2. Although, the NE2's piano should be enough to do that!

Cool. That's good to know. Thanks! My blog Nord Electro 2 | microKorg | Casiotone MT-65 | Hammond XB-2 | Korg Electribe-R ER-
