HOT DAMN that is groovin'.

EDIT: Does he really want that Prodigy to be a keytar, or what?

Yeah weird idea!! I think its a Micromoog though...

Yep, that's a Micro...was my first synth. Didn't realize that Herbie had ever played one. Kinda has me jonesing for that old thing! It's interesting how the ribbon gives a totally different character to the pitch bend than the wheel does.

Why didn't you post the clip of England Dan & John Ford Coley? :idk Love that tune!

Feel free to post :D

Actually I just watched the DVD of the whole show (inc the 70s commercials and quite frankly terrible comedy)... they did quite a few songs. Piano guy had some chops...

Nice stuff! I've only recently become aware of the Don Kirschner's Rock Concert show, when I saw a clip of Dr. John's band with James Booker on organ (for a full-on New Orleans keyboard nerdgasm). Seems like the show had some quality acts. It'll be interesting to see what makes it onto the DVD set.

Thanks a lot !!!

Eventhough Hancock was gravitating towards his commersial period, it still grooves and the playing is great as always.

Paul Jackson is killing it.

Yeah! He´s gotta be the funkiest bassplayer ever!

Sometimes he starts a line "in the middle of nowhere" and ends up "in the middle of nowhere"...Check out "Thrust"

IIRC he was the one teaching Hancock how to funk...

Thanks for posting this. I vaguely remember the title "Don Kirschner's Rock Concert" from when I was a kid, but I have no idea if I saw the show. I doubt my dad would have wanted to sit through it.

They ought to have these guys play on American Idol.

What is that tune called? It's like early smooth jazz, Herbie renders a really nice and relaxed solo. Reminds me of Spyro Gyra...

I think these songs are from the Man-Child album. The last song, as orangefunk mentioned earlier in the thread, is called "Hang Up Your Hang Ups."

The album is Secrets and all the songs are from it. The first song is Gentle Thoughts. The second is Doin it (obviously from Herbie's vocals*. The last one is maybe Swamp Rat; it seems like a jam. I had this album since it came out and Gentle Thoughts and a very cool version of Cantelope Island were my favorites. It always gets a play every so often.
