CEB
This demo sounds noisy but the hardware looks interesting. I like how the wah/volume pedal has a stomp switch like my old Cry Baby. I wish he did some clean tones. It has lo-impedance outputs. I'm into modelers right now because I am playing some guitar again but I don't want to carry an amp. Plus we've gone to IEMs and we are eliminating on stage amplification. Not sure if this will make the cut but I like the layout. desertbluesman
Took Fender a while to get on board. I am not interested in modelers for myself, but it does look interesting. dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
Caevan O’Shite
I will say that, concerning gigging with one of these, I've read of reliability issues with the specific footswitches used on this, that are also used on other gear; and these were reliable, experienced people that I've known via this and other forums for a long while. If necessary, they may or may not be easily replaced with stronger, more reliable switches. Hopefully, "YMMV"! Larryz
THANKS CEB FOR POSTING THIS INFO!!! I've been looking (almost ordering) the Mustang III which sells for $299 + another $60 for the additional (4 position) footswitch...has great sounds from a 1x12 35lb amp and has great reviews...however this floor modeling multi effects switch has the same basic sounds and software but with the added wah pedal and dual direct xlr direct in's to the PA or 1/4 inch outs to your existing amp for $299...will be checking this pedal out and not buying the amp due to your post! The only issue I have right now is the buzz or white noise that I heard on the youtube demo's before touching the strings...I like it quiet...I would also want to hear it live on the PA before buying as the switches are loud on the demos for both the Mustang amps and the Floor modeler...Thanks again... A String
The main issue I have with this is the switches. Over the years, I've found this style of switch has a tendency to fail, after heavy road use. Dr. Ellwood
We had a protracted discussion about the switches used in this device... http://www.thestringnetwork.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7135 http://www.thestringnetwork.com
CEB
What is it that screams a red flag on these switches. They look like the switches on my 30 years old stomp pedals and they held up. Is there something that makes them look different than the switches on say my old Memory Man or MXR stuff. ... well I guess they do look a little taller. Larryz
Thanks for the input Zan...will be trying the floor unit through my ZT Club 12 speaker, a Fishman Stick and my Carvin PA and 3-way speakers in the not too distant future...+1 on that Celestion V30 making for a great sounding Mustang III amp... CEB
The best demo I have seen yet. XLR out direct to the camera. Not sure if I will still be in the market but I will check them out. My local shop should have some in next month.... I guess next month is sometime after tomorrow. LOL. Larryz
***UPDATE*** Well the Mustang Floor finally came in from my back order a few months back a coule of days ago and it's still too early to give a full review, but here are some things that might be of interest to anyone thinking about buying one from my 1st impressions: 1. It has a volume pedal! none of he info I reviewed before buying clarrified what the pedal does...it is a Volume or Expression pedal and can also be used as a Wah if you have the auto Wah pedal kicked in and use it with the Expression. 2. It has an effects loop and you can plug in your current pedal board and kick it in and out using the insert switch and use all of your existing pedals if you want to. Plus you can use all of your existing amps and PA's with it...it's made to run your main axe acoustic or electric direct to the PA with no DI box needed... 3. The switches are not the standard on/off switches like you find on almost all stomp boxes, they are all pressure switches that work like the 5U keyboard patch changers that just look like on/off switches...they are very quite and can't be heard over the amp or PA. 4. You can set the Left and Right unbalanced outs and/or the balanced XLR outs for stereo or for mono and use one or both in line to two different amps or PA channels...or you can set up the Lefts to go to an amp(s) and the Rights to go to PA channel(s) individually or all at one time. 5. I plugged the 65 Deluxe reverb amp and lowered the reverb level and delay level to my ZT club (with the reverb off and all other controls in the straight up high noon positions)...it changed the amp to a Fender Deluxe sound and it sounded great...so your amp and/or PA just becomes a dry amp and speaker system...the Floor does the rest for you... 6. the 99 pre-sets all work great...some of them will need to be re-programmed to even out volume levels but I tested all 99 using a Taylor T5 with my favorite settings, and only turned the guitar up and down on volume while switching through the patches...all of them sounded great and took the guitar to places I never dreamed it could go... 7. Inspired by the T3, I took out my T5, 416acoutic Taylor, Nylon ns74 TAylor, and my Fender SSH Strat and ran them all through the Floor going to my Fishman Stick PA...they all sounded great... This was a very good test for me within a couple hours (ie. when I could get around to it) without using the manual...you can pull it out of the box and do a gig without knowing all of the whistles and bells...I am very pleased with it and may post an update again in the future...for the cost of three pedals ($299) you just can't go wrong...it does just about every sound you could ask for out of your guitar...If you get the chance to try one out at GC, it will be well worth your time...Not Spam...just truth... That's particularly cool, especially if the 'loop has stereo ins and outs; I bet you're gonna tell me that it's mono, but that's still cool. For me, most of my pedals would go in front of the Mustang Floor's input, just like I would with an amp, with a few of my pedals and processors being connected to it's 'loop or after its Left and Right outputs. Larryz
I believe it's a mono in and out on the effects loop which would be the same as your guitar input which you can then split into stereo outs or leave it in mono using only the left output...my pedal board has a reverb pedal with stereo in's and out's but I never use it in stereo and just run the whole board in mono as all of my input/output jacks are mono anyway, so for me I would just run my pedal board in/out on the loop of the Floor and use the stereo L/R outs to split the signal to two amps or to two channels on the PA or one to the PA and one to an amp for all of my effects...the insert switch on the Floor is a bypass so it doesn't mix the Floor effects with your pedal board effects while in effects mode, while in pre-set modes it will remember whether or not you use your own effects and work the insert switch for you if you're running your effects with the different amp/speaker selections...it does open up some doors and you can run it along side and/or use your current set up. I'm probably not going to use my pedal board anymore as I like the sound(s) I'm getting from the Floor... Take care, Larryz
nyaben
Larryz, I've been trying to decide between Mustang Floor, Line 6 HD300 or perhaps Super Champ amp. Are you still happy with your purchase? I would be using mine through a PA. Thx
Larryz
Welcome aboard nyaben! Yes, I'm very happy with my Mustang Floor. I haven't really used the whistles and bells yet as I just crafted the clean sound I wanted using only reverb, delay, vibrato and compressor. There are 99 pre-sets which can all be tweeked and USB to use with your laptop and addtional unlimited downloads available on-line. I go straight to the PA and leave my amps at home. I get a great sound for what I use it for but you may want to try one out at GC before buying one. The effects are great. If you are considering an amp, try out the Mustang III. It gets great reviews, it's light weight, a great practice amp with with plenty of power to fill a club venue. The speaker helps it get it's point across. It has all the same effects as the Floor and would be well worth checking out at under $300 (which is the same price as the Floor).
