My production partner hipped me to this video last night. This is so hip it gives me chills. Won't be to everyone's taste but you have to see this vid, and it's obviously WAY appropriate to our community. Enjoy dudes.

Great groove and production. There's a Fagenesque dark but playful irony about it. Not sure I'd have any clue what it was about if I didn't see the video.

re: autotune, I agree the context is good for it. It's so overdone and played out, in general, that I just have an adverse reaction every time I hear it.

+1 this. The context is indeed good for it, but i can't stand it no matter what.

No sh!t, pretty incredible if you ask me. The sound and animation quality are first-rate, pretty clever and compact story line too. What do you know about its author?

+1. Honestly, for me, it wasn't about the music. I liked the production value and the aspect of the music as a score for the animation. If the song played on the radio, I don't think I'd find it remarkable. But thing as a package is pretty damn cool, and really exploits the benefits of the modern phenomenon that is YouTube.

See, now, if I look at it in this context, I'm not sure of the entertainment value ... for me. I must be getting old, because to me, this isn't a satisfying live music performance. I feel like I'm watching a DJ.

Reminds me so much of some of the last Lowrey's I worked on back in the day - updated.

Same artist, different song. Different vibe too, almost like two different people. Also wicked. Really wicked. Again probably not to everyone's taste. When the hook drops he sounds like Phil Collins. Loving this artist!

I dig it, and there's been plenty of good music in the past 20 years, just nothing original, and this artist is no exception, but I like it.

Hahahaha....riiight.

Show me the artist doing something new.

I guess it would come down to your definition of the word 'new' in terms of music. Because you're right, all the elements that make up these pieces have been heard before. But they are being combined in new ways I'd say.
