JeffLearman
I bought a grand piano recently, and it came with a mismatched crappy little bench. I recently got it working and tuned well enough to really enjoy playing it, and after sitting at it for a few ours, my butt is sore! Please recommend a decent inexpensive basic black (ivory satin) piano bench. Thanks!
BluesKeys
no other choice but an artist bench... adjustable and comfortable. Although not cheap. kanker.
I like the non-cushioned benches. Makes it a TON easier to slide your butt around when changing registers if need be.... A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.

Yes but the Jansen Artist Bench is so "cushie for my tushie." There aren't nearly enough things in life that one can say that about, so I'll stick with it on that basis alone. iLaw
This is for the Steinway M, right? The piano deserves a Jansen adjustable artist bench, but they are pricey. Perhaps a more affordable Woodmaster bench? http://www.pianobench.com/images/prod/304_color.jpg Larry.

JeffLearman
Are you allowed to pay more for the bench than for the piano? (jk, the piano was a little more than that!)
JeffLearman
I like the non-cushioned benches. Makes it a TON easier to slide your butt around when changing registers if need be.... That's a good point. I usually don't have a problem with benches, not that I ever noticed before. But the one I have is also too low. I'm used to using a stool or wheeled office chair. A bench definitely beats the stool: it's nice to move without having to use a hand and the while the wheeled office chair is fine for my office/studio, it would look real silly at the grand. The amazon one looks like a great deal, but no doubt it's naugahide. I bet the Janson is leather which would breathe better and avoid ... well I hope I don't need to go there. Mewisenhower, that's just what I needed last night! A bit of cushie. Jimmy you have to come over and check out the difference in the action, not to mention how it sounds with a half-decent tuning. I'm convinced it was tuned to a baroque temperment. Either that or a broke one.
