Mike Davis
Will music apps like GB, Ani-Moog and Scorch run happily on the 16 or 32 gig versions of iPad2, or would you consider the 64 to be a necessity? Sorry to come in with a question after having not contributed here in a while. It's been a crazy, in a good kinda way, couple of months. Hope everyone's doing well! Marzzz
They all work equally well as each version has the same amount of RAM: how much HD capacity you need depends on how much audio, video, etc. you want to store on the iPad. I find a 32 gig version is just fine because I keep a lot of music on my iPad and like to load up a few movies when traveling.
AnotherScott
I agree. If you're not loading it up with lots of other stuff, even 16 gB is plenty. Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
orangefunk
i have a 64GB version with Wifi and no 3G. I have literally 100s of apps (music apps, games, city guides, etc.), synth manuals, some books and magazines but no mp3s or videos and I am using 13GB. I would tend to think 32GB is more than enough!!
ITGITC
Excellent question! Of course, it depends on how much storage you need on the iPad vs. what you can offload, via wi-fi or USB 2.0, to an external drive. I bought the 64GB version for wife and daughter, not knowing how much they would need. For them, storing movies takes the most space. OTOH, they've got Netflix and Amazon Prime, so with Wi-Fi, this isn't such a big deal. Since what you buy is what you're stuck with, and they can't be upgraded. I would either get the 32GB model or the 64GB model. It's $100 difference between the two. That could be a little, or a lot, depending on your perspective. Here's an idea - You could buy the iPad 2 now, and when the iPad 3 is introduced in 3 months, give it to a friend or family member and trade up. Good luck!
