Aidan
50 Words for Snow has been rotating on my Spotify playlist almost non-stop for the past week. IMO, it is astonishingly good. Forget what you think you know about this artist - "Snow" is based on a fluid trio of Bush's understated but always elegant piano-playing, underpinned by a stellar rhythm section of Steve Gadd and Danny Thompson. I'd put Lake Tahoe up there as the standout track but Kate's fans are respectful and the album isn't all over YouTube. However, here is an official video segment for "Misty" which will give you a flavour... [video:youtube] Do yourself a favour and get to listen to the rest somehow. Dana.
The whole album is a fascinating listen. Also, Steve Gadd.

Mark Schmieder
Oh wow, that's the Danny Thompson who has worked with Richard Thompson over the years, isn't it? One of my favourite bassists. I haven't had a chance to buy this album yet, but did buy the recent "re-imaginings" album. Kate has long been one of my favourite artists. Surprised husband Del Palmer isn't covering bass duties on this new album. The other "rare artist" release I am looking forward to is Roberta Flack's Beatles album, which also includes George Harrison's "Isn't It a Pity". It looks like she made sure not to duplicate songs that Sarah Vaughan covered on her famous Beatles album, to avoid comparisons. I put these two highly talented artists in a similar category, if only because both put out albums so rarely, but always surprise us with something a bit unexpected when they do. Michelle ggurl
Well, I echo others' sentiments here and say I'm a longtime, big-time Kate Bush fan. Listened to the clip ... glad I don't have to "forget everything I know about this artist" because it still sounds like her! In particular with this track I hear how she influenced Tori Amos (at least it sure sounds that way), whom I also like, but Kate's depth is extraordinary. Thanks for posting, because just yesterday I was listening to some of her stuff from "Red Shoes" and "Hounds of Love" (both in heavy rotation in my car) and wondering what she was up to these days. Now I know. Original Latin Jazz CD Baby "I am not certain how original my contribution to music is as I am obviously an amateur." Michelle ggurl
The other "rare artist" release I am looking forward to is Roberta Flack's Beatles album, Wow, this is really funny (coinkydinky) because I'm going to be doing a couple of (Latin arranged) Flack tunes (don't think she is the author of either tune but her voice is the famous delivery of them) on an upcoming gig. I had forgotten how awesome she is until just recently. Original Latin Jazz CD Baby "I am not certain how original my contribution to music is as I am obviously an amateur." JpScoey
I was a 14 year-old schoolboy when Kate Bush 1st appeared on 'Top of the Pops' in the UK, in 1978. I fell in love with her immediately. She was not only beautiful & SEXY... but she had that 'haunting' voice, & those melodies with subtle arrangements just captivated me... & she's still doing it 30 yrs later. Good for her - she's great ! http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af313/jpscoey/2107.jpg Her first single... HammondDave
Long Before Britney and all those other lip-syncers... you had a real musician and artist on stage...
