mate stubb
If you RTFA, it's a publicity stunt to blast NAMM show attendees into their booth. Having helped destroy the pro audio market, they are moving on to consumer electronics. Just like a plague of locusts. Ken Beaumont
From the article: "We made this one as a prototype, but we will make them and sell them if we take orders for them," he said. So who is this person who would pay $30,000 for an iPhone docking station? "The buyer who has everything," said Wilder. "Probably someone with a sizable amount of property and wants to throw a party and wants something more elegant than a normal speaker system." Elegance, we suppose, is in the eye of the very rich iPod owner. So they may have originally conceived it as a stunt, but they plan on taking orders for it. I don't think they destroyed the pro audio market. Almost every musician that I've seen uses their stuff usually falls in these categories: 1) A high school student 2) Weekend part time musician 3) Poor church How many pros you see out their using a lot of Behringer equipment? The economy has done more damage to the pro audio market than Behringer ever could. Ken Beaumont
And how's the pro level midi controller market going these days? The pro midi controller , market died before Behringer ever made one. They have only got 4 cheap models and they have only been out almost 2 years. And American manufacturers moved to China because of Behringer? Right so that's why you can't buy American made televisions, computers etc. Its all Behringers fault! I personally don't buy their stuff because its cheap! I have only ever owned one thing by them, a cheap V-amp and it didn't last a year. Ken Beaumont
Its kind of funny. Years ago Japanese companies were famous for making cheap knock offs of American products. In the 40's & 50's German companies claimed the US was copying its products. Many Asian companies would even copy the logos and misspell the name. Behringer is the only German company I'm aware of that makes stuff that looks almost exactly like their competitors stuff. The resemblance is often NOT just skin deep where B is concerned. THAT is unethical at least, and illegal at most, which is why I will bash them at every opportunity.
