mikecorbett
Someone suggested I upload some multimedia on another post. I really am not set up for that bar shooting with my iPhone. I am thinking that I want to be able to record video but blend it with a signal from my studio mixer.. Any suggestions for a camcorder that will take a line level signal from a desk, blend it with the video, and makes the transfer of video for the likes of youtube easy? If it didnt break the bank that would be good also. We are all slave's to our brain chemistry!
marino
A couple of years ago, I bought a consumer Samsung video camera in order to do exactly what you have in mind, but I soon realized that I had to rely on someone else to do do the shooting (nothing worse than seeing a concert with a fixed point of view!), *and* that someone should be quite well versed in the art of video shooting, otherwise you get unpleasing and embarassing videos. The moral: I'm lucky to have a friend who is learning the craft, so he was happy to use my concerts as a school... he has a much better camera than mine anyway, so the results, though not the very best, are infinitely better than just handing my so-so camera to someone who just happens to be there... I usually record the audio separately, and then sync it with the computer... it's not difficult once you get it. For my needs, I have to say that I'm very pleased. On the other hand, if all you want is to record youself at home, your idea should work, with a bit of careful planning. I can't give you suggestions, sorry... I'm too ignorant about cameras and stuff.
Bridog6996
It's probably easier to do what Marino mentioned. It's really easy to make basic edits to a video (including replacing the audio track) using something as simple as Windows Movie Maker, or whatever the Apple version is if you use a Mac. Just make sure to give yourself a sync cue so you'll be able to easily line up the audio and video together. My YouTube Channel

J. Dan
We spent some serious cash on video, but would have done the audio the same way if we went cheap on the video. We have a monitor board with a splitter snake, which is probably unique to most of you. We ran a multitrack mix of the live performance and mixed it down ourselves. The videographer edited the video to that. Dan Acoustic/Electric stringed instruments ranging from 4 to 230 strings, hammered, picked, fingered, slapped, and plucked. mate stubb
Once you have your video and audio recorded, there is a decent free tool called VirtualDub that runs on Windows, which can be used for editing. Joe Muscara
For a different perspective, I have a Flip Mino HD, and it does a great job shooting HD video and recording sound at shows. Of course, it depends on the position, but the thing does have the threads for a tripod mount. I have a small tabletop tripod and depending on the venue I can set it up in a good place and leave it. Yeah, the fixed point of view can be a little boring unless you pick a good spot, but I say it's way better than the jittery handheld videos people post that make me nauseous. ankaka
I really like my Canon 550D. It's called the Canon Rebel T2i in the US. It has an 18 mega pixel sensor and takes great photos. It also has 1080 HD video, with a choice of frame rates. The video quality is superb, it looks great on my high definition TV. digital hd video camera http://www.sencart.com/Supply-camcorder_c77
