hazerkeys
Hi all - have not posted in a while, but looking forward to being active here !! - I do have an inquiry for this great group .. Recently got a viscount OP-3 (think Korg CX-3 circa 1983) off Ebay to use in our practice room .. Was working prior to shipment (actually trust the seller and have talked to him), but was DOA upon arrival .. have an electrical background, so did some digging and pretty sure it isthe power supply .. anyone know where I could get one (have put some feelers out) .. could I use a 12v DC supply with the appropriate specs, etc ?? - thanks in advance PC1x, Hammond XK1c, Deep Mind 6, MS500 (gig rig) Kurz PC4, Mini Moog Model D, Little Phatty, Hammond M3, Leslie 145, viscount op-3, Behringer model D, Roland GAIA.. matted stump
Any supply that provides the correct voltage (check whether you need AC or DC output), PLUS which provides enough current capability, PLUS has the correct polarity and type connector, will do the job. nickd
Check carefully: I had a Viscount DB3 which I think might be the same thing (in the UK) and it needed an AC power supply, not DC. Can the seller help out?
hazerkeys
IT LIVES !!!! - in spite of great packaging and fragile labeling by the seller, I found a slight crack in the PC board that was not allowing the AC in to get to the transformer (the transformer is pretty heavy, so imagine it crack the pc board when being "handled").. a couple of bypass wires soldered on and it works !! - for the techies out there, it takes AC in and then regulates it to 12v DC output .. I think a lot of the 12v "wall wart" power supplies are not regulated, so don't think I could of used them .. The old OP-3 will be in gig retirement as a fixture in our practice studio !!
