Octopus
Hi Is Roland SRX-98 Analog Essentials Expansion Board a nice expansion? Im considering to buy a used for 122 USD to my roland x6 in my home studio. Good price? I want it most for sounds like warm pulsating pads, sweeping basses, analog landscapes etc (like jean michel jarre) etc. I already have a moog little phatty in my home studio. orangefunk
I don't think so... I seem to recall it was a bit of a mish mash... The SRX7 would be a better bet... esp on the Fantom series... I have it in my Roland GX piano and its limited in there as you can't make multiple patches from the same waveform (GX limitation)... but in the Fantom it will be fabulous... nickd
+1 on the SRX-07 - it's got a lot of vintage keys stuff you probably don't want (organ, mellotron etc) but the synth sounds are great, and will hold its value so you can resell later if it's not for you. orangefunk
what amazed me about the vintage keys was the amount of saxes, guitars and basses... wish there were more "vintage keys".
Octopus
I dont think i need organ and EP, i have ordered a hammond sk2. I just want analogish sounds to a compliment my moog little phatty st2. Maybe i buy booth srx07 and 98, and i also want the orchestra card. The srings srx4 was put in when i bought it. How many cards can i put in the x6? DanS
I had the card twice from purchasing a JunoG then a Fantom X7.Sold it both times. It's a 'lite' card with not too many patches on it.Not worth more than $50-75.As other's have said, try and find the Vinatge Keys, much more bang for the buck, and can be had for around $150. Leh173
Yeah as far as I've heard analog essentials doesn't have much going for it. Most people love SRX-07 though which has all the waveforms from the old JV Vintage Synth card, plus a lot of others. I have the Vintage Synth card still in my JV1080 and it's a great card. Roland Fantom G6, D-70, JP-8000, Juno-106, JV-1080, Moog Minitaur, Korg Volca Keys, Yamaha DX-7.
