I've spent over $500 on stands in the past year, and they're all pretty much unusable.

...which ones? Quik-Lok Z, and what else?

Well, some of that money has gone into stands that I thought would be tall enough, but weren't, or would have reliable, full-adjustable 2nd tiers, which none of them were.

 

I still have a few good stands -- but they're not usable because of height or positioning issues; the only ones that give me the positioning I want at the height I want, and keep me in a small footprint, have broken down.
