Other Gibson Les Paul Classics made over the years may vary. Larryz Posted October 1, 2011 Share Posted October 1, 2011 Congrats, I had one just like it only it was the mini humbucker deluxe back in the early 70's (same color etc.) always loved that guitar even though it got heavier as I got older...but I still wish I had it back...you're gonna love it... So I went out and bought a Mega Axe Strap, what a relief on my shoulders and rib cage. But as heavy as it is, the sustain and tone are just outstanding. I'm very happy with my wide jacquard Planet Waves strap (they came in at least two widths), which slips back and forth through the mesh topped shoulder-pad as you move around, instead of binding uncomfortably on your clothes. Another must is strap locks; I really like the Dunlop StrapLok system, they're very low-profile and suit a Les Paul nicely. I am keeping mine (It was up for sale) Glad to read that you're keeping it, dbm. It'd be too hard to replace when you inevitably began missing it.
