King, he's unique in the blues 'cause he's so deliberately inclusive. He set out to widen the audience for the blues and he did. Plus as guitar player, he's great but, like with his singing, he keeps it economical and focused on what the song needs. It's not like Django Reinhardt or Charlie Christian, where if you try to play along with them you get flustered. A kid trying to play along with a B. B. King record can learn those parts and hope that one day they'll play like that themselves. That's inspiration ! And I think he's pulled more people into the blues than anybody else.
