Alain Caron and le Drummer at the Montreal Jazz Fest.

I know we don't normally talk too much about bass players & drummers around here, but I'm making an exception.

 

For those of you who are unfamiliar with M. Caron, he used to be the bass player for the Quebec fusion jazz trio Uzeb.

 

He took the stage last night with John Roney on Korg SV1, Michel Coté on guitar, and Damien Schmitt on drums.

Yeah, the show was a mind blower on all levels, but it was M.Schmitt who had my drummer & I catching flies all night.

The guy is a monster player, the likes I have never seen on drums.

We spoke to Alain after the show and asked him where he found this guy. Says he thinks he's one of the best drummers out there now.

Not sure how much youtube is out on this guy, but if your town has them in, do yourself a favour and check them out.

You will be compeletley amazed.
