Today was my great uncle's funeral. Now this. Both were somewhat expected losses, but that doesn't make either one any easier for me. The Beatles changed my life.... as I'm sure can be said of countless of the readers of these forums. They MOVED me! I'm in agreement with Alndln - I'm at a total loss for words. :( :( :( :( :( Goodbye George - and thank you for sharing your gifts with us. Thanks Harold. At the funeral and later at the wake (we are, after all, Irish), I was thinking that the only thing we have, at the end of the day, is each other; and the only thing we take with us when we leave this world, is the love of those that our lives have touched. Mr Harrison definitely touched a lot of people. I can think of a lot worse things to have said about you than that you brought a lot of love, joy and happiness to a lot of people. And, I know it's Paul's line, but I think it appropriate: And in the end - the love you take is equal to the love you make. May you be in heaven, George, a half an hour before the devil knows you're dead. Phil O'Keefe Sound Sanctuary Recording Riverside CA http://www.ssrstudio.com pokeefe777@msn.com

And his guitar will gently weep for years to come, thank you George. All things must pass.
The alchemy of the masters moving molecules of air, we capture by moving particles of iron, so that the poetry of the ancients will echo into the future.

What do we want? Procrastination!

When do we want it? Later!

I never thought my second post in this forum would be such a sad one to write. I put this up in answer to one in the Guitar Forum, and now I'm puttin' my two cents in here at the open mic. NPR's lead story today was the passing of George Harrison. Bigger news than the war. I got up, got out the Taylor, and played Taxman, If I Needed Someone, and a few others before getting ready for work. Back home, I bet all of my guitars are still gently weeping. I know I am. Rest easy, George. It's a rainy day here, but look...there's a full moon tonight to light your way home.

I'm one of the few people I know that actually likes " Within You Without You" on Sgt. Peppers. I just gave it a spin- it says it all about where George's head was at re: passing- and where he'd want all our heads to be at at this time. Because of George I bought a Gretcsh in '68 - still my top axe. Now I know how my father felt when Sinatra passed.

Check out some tunes here:

BTW, Gretsch posted another appropriate section of one of George's tunes on their homepage today. The first manufacturer I've noticed do an "In Memorium." I've been trying to get some work done this morning, but I keep coming back to this and a local forum to see what people are saying. Work? Hell. I'm USELESS today.
