Griffinator Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 How are you finding this shit - and more importantly, why are you subjecting the rest of us to it? A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
BiC Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 LOL! I forgot what I was searching on YT when I ran across it... How are you finding this shit - and more importantly, why are you subjecting the rest of us to it? "Treat your wife with honor, respect, and understanding as you live together so that you can pray effectively as husband and wife." 1 Peter 3:7
Electric Biscuit Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 His arrangement of Master of Puppets is actually pretty catchy, I thought real men just jam
Griffinator Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Yes, "arrangement" would be a generous word for it... A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.

Winston Psmith Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 So, I've gotta ask - if you've just done a video, and YOU KNOW IT SUCKS, why post it online? I know, Tosh.0 wouldn't even be a show if not for idiots like this guy, but really, why post this? "Monsters are real, and Ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win." SEHpicker Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 There should be rules of eligibility for posting on YouTube. What a waste of good server space. Reminds me of some of the people that audition for American Idol... why doesn't somebody inform them that they suck before they embarrass themselves. A String Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I think the guy is still learning and just got a fancy new distortion pedal that he wants to show off. As a teacher, I used to sit through hours of this a day. It's part of the progress. At least he's learning guitar and not "DJing". Craig Stringnetwork on Facebook String Network Forum My Music

j oliver Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 just because you know it sucks doesn't mean they do.
Gifthorse Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Arion pedals from the 1980's. Do they still make those? Those were SOOO cheap. I think I had the phaser pedal in highschool. http://flagshipmile.dmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/gifthorse

whitefang Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 What's great about YouTube is what's great about TV. Anybody who gets on either can become instant famous for doing practically nothing worthwhile. The bad thing about YouTube is what's bad about TV. Anybody who gets on either can become instant famous for doing practically nothing worthwhile. The best thing about both is that you're not forced to watch, and you can turn them both OFF. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
Winston Psmith Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 just because you know it sucks doesn't mean they do. Fair enough - except in this guy's case, he admits to screwing up, in the comments that go with his video post. Nonetheless, I do appreciate A String & Harvey's more generous perspective & I do remember that part of music store life, the "Look what I got!" Syndrome. At least it wasn't a 100-watt stack. dvuksanovich Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 We all sounded like this at some point. The difference is that YouTube didn't exist at the time so (thankfully) there's no evidence.
BiC Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Yes... you're correct, BUT wrong on the evidence. I still have cassette tapes. We all sounded like this at some point. BiC Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 I truly do not intend to demean the guy, because that is not in my nature. Perhaps I should not had titled the subject like I had. I blame it on the vicodin I was on from dental implant surgery. I know... excuses, excuses. But, I have an idea. How about those of us with youtube accounts post some constructive criticism along with an encouraging word or two under his comments? I plan to do just that when I return home this evening. It will be under my username "bic4jesus". Who knows... that could be the thing he needs at this stage in his life. Eric Iverson Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Actually, there is this fancy new distortion pedal I want, and I'm still learning.. after 40 years! Seriously, effects pedals are nice tools but no substitute for knowing how to play, blend with other musicians, LISTEN etc. etc.
Caevan O'Shite Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Hey, it's no worse than what Metallica did to Thin Lizzy's "Whiskey In The Jar"... Or no worse than what Thin Lizzie did to the traditional Irish tune "Whiskey In The Jar..." Now, the thing is, Thin Lizzy did a unique, creative, intelligently done (re)arrangement of the old traditional folk-song, whereas Metallica merely rasped out a half-assed lame copy of Thin Lizzy's arrangement. One might prefer a more traditional arrangement based on personal tastes and stylistic sensibilities, but there is no arguing against the musical aptitude and finesse shown in the Thin Lizzy arrangement, nor the lack thereof and pure unadulterated suckiness of Metallica's hack-job phoned-in cover worthy of a bad bar-band. Metallica really should have been too embarrassed to put that polished turd out at all. dvuksanovich Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 That must have been Hetfield. Kirk Hammett only knows pentatonic scales. (I do like Metallica in spite of Kirk Hammett)
