rappa29 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Setup: XK1\Vent and NE3 into K10, Gain at 1:00 on both channels, no FOH. First set, K10 sounds great! Everything's cool! Second set, I turned the XK1 up a notch. Around second song I start to hear farting (and it wasn't the roast beef\horseradish sandwich I had for dinner)! In between songs I check the back panel, everything looks normal. I dial the XK1 back a notch. Cool, it's behaving normally. Although, still thinking "WTF? Why did it have trouble with the XK1 turned up a little?" End of the night, I'm packing up and notice the LF switch is sitting BETWEEN Normal and Deep. Apparently, that 'in between' status ended up being Deep. Not sure how it got set there, because I always run it Normal! Anyhow, it seems the K10 farts if it's set to Deep and you push it too hard? Anyone ever have any issue running your K10 in Deep position? Should I have turned the Gain up to 3:00 or more to compensate for turning up the XK1 a notch? This was only the 2nd time I've used the K10 on it's own to support my rig. The first time it was fine, but used in Normal mode. Other gigs we've had FOH so I've only used it as a monitor, so didn't have to push it.
kanker. Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Mine gets to farting once in a while, and I'm trying to narrow down what it is, but it's only when I'm playing really, really fucking loud. A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.
GDP Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 My K12 made a farting sound a couple of times but I realized my gain structure was messed up and I was pegging the mixer. A tweak at the input gain and that ended the problem. I have noticed you need to keep an eye on the NE3's output, especially with a Vent in line.
Joe Muscara Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I haven't pushed mine that much, but I have noticed those switches can get changed in transport. I try to make a habit of checking them every time I set up now. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! keyoctave Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Rappa29, I don't have the K10 but I noticed something very similar with my JBL 510's, mostly when using the Ventilator. I am wondering if it has something to do with the cabinet modeling on the vent that may boost the low bass frequencies which may overwhelm smaller size speakers. I had to turn the bass control on the 510's to the cut position which helped some but it still has some problems at high volumes (had to turn the bass down on the nord to clear it up). There is no problem when I use just the sim from my NE2. Kurzweil PC3, Hammond SK-1 + Ventilator, Korg Triton. 2 JBL Eon 510's.
