Taking a quick look thru the manual (found here: http://support.casio.com/pdf/008/px_310_01_e.pdf), it doesn't look like she can store or send program change info or much in the way of controller info, but using MIDI Out of the Casio into MIDI In of the Proteus will at least allow her to play the Proteus from the Casio.

Welcome to the forum, and by the way... a little punctuation will go a long way toward making your posts easy to understand, and enjoyable to read. :thu:

Good question. I believe she'd be better off with a PX3, which is intended to be more of a controller than the 310. I'll be interested to hear what folks who know the 310 have to say, but I'm skeptical.

My suspicion is you'd be able to get the 310 to send its own program changes; that is, when she changes sounds on the 310 it'll send the MIDI for that change. You'd have to program the Proteus 2000 (which I don't know anything about) to the sounds you'd want for each of those patches. That wouldn't give you much flexibility.

That's just a guess; waiting for others who know.

Another option would be to get a separate programmable MIDI button box, like a MIDI foot controller.

Looking at the MIDI implementation chart in the manual, it looks like my guess was correct: the Casio will send MIDI program change messages when you change sounds.
