pinkjimiphoton Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 this was all done with guitars, believe it or not...forget which, but was one of my roland guitar synths,or maybe all 3...a gr09, gr1 and gr30... the main voice, the cello, is a VST synth called cellofan, being run in a program called savihost, again being driven by the midi signal from one of the rolands...this isn't recorded in real time, it's multitracked...but one of the more curious things is that it's a sonic palindrome (hey, i had too much time on my hands, lol)...the same thing, forwards or backwards, other than the ambience. kinda floydish, sorta...wrote it for syd barrett when he passed, it's named because of a ref to the early pink floyd classic "astronome domine"..."oberon, miranda, and TITANIA"... if you're one of those people that still partakes of...ahem... mother nature (i don't anymore, but tend to like those that do), blaze one and kick on the cans.. you can do ALOT with these synths beyond what most people think... http://www.icompositions.com/music/uploads/925/70743Titania.png http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=84831 http://www.sweetrelief.org/ https://www.wepay.com/donations/memorial-stone-for-juliane-pocius
desertbluesman Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Nice sounds, Here is mine, done in 1989 http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=2022996&q=hi&newref=1 I used a Roland GM 70 controlling two Roland D-550 synths, the basses were done with a Yamaha TX802 and the drums were Roland Drum Machine. I shot the guitar parts into MOTU's Performer 3.5 and edited in there (after programing the basses and drums into Performer). dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
pinkjimiphoton Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 that's pretty cool bro!! i like the counterpoints...and some great chops, especially using the gm70...old school electronic coolness! i used to rack a couple d110's as slaves, (with an akaii sampler) but got lazy after a while. this song rockS! you can tell it's good if i like it and my roomate hates it...lol http://www.sweetrelief.org/ https://www.wepay.com/donations/memorial-stone-for-juliane-pocius
RocketRobinson Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Good stuff, JP- Who knows, if the Beatles had synths, the London Symphony would have missed out on a great gig!
desertbluesman Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 this was all done with guitars, I like the layers a bunch. The cello sounds awesome you can almost hear the hairs on the bow as it would have passed on the strings, is it a sample or a synth patch. Nice recording. dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
