No.

Being pedantic it's a Dean Spider. A Dean Spyder is the car that James Dean crashed. Make sure you get it right on your CD sleeve :)

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with the endorsement.

Not to pick nits, but I believe that was a Porche, not a Dean...

LOL, or Dean's Spyder even. Google dean spyder, then google dean spider. You get my point. ;)

Jan Berry of Jan & Dean nearly bought it crashing his Corvette. It was made by Chevrolet, not Dean.

What's the name of this Who tribute band?

There sure are a lot of good possibilities:

The High Numbers (for serious fans of the Who)

Boris and the Spiders (for bass players)(and perfect for that Spyder bass)

The Magic Bus

The Pinball Wizards

From what I understand Dean is only making 25 of the Spyders worldwide. I can't imagine what they'll charge for them. Maybe more than the Alembic???

The Hybrids (Fenderbird-ish model) look cool but I don't know of anyone selling them yet, internet OR brick-and-mortar.

There was a Who tribute band about 25 years ago named Dr. Jimmy.

Seeker

Sparks

Success Story

Squeezebox

Sister Disco

Smash The Mirror

Slip Kid

Substitute

Silas Stingy

And that's just the S's.

Someone who has had a chance to play them has mentioned that the street price on the Spider was $4500 while the USA Hybrid was $1200, and the Hybrid standard was $600-$700.

I found THIS on the Dean website. The Spyder looks cool, but the hybrids look neat too.

Are those decal webs instead of inlay on that $4500 bass?

I don't know if there are many bigger Entwistle fans than me. If I was gonna spend over 4K on a Spyder bass I'd rather suck it up, get a loan if I had to, and get the Alembic for double that.

It's like spending big money on a Lexus. Beautiful car, runs great, very luxurious. Then you're at a stop light and a guy in a Mercedes pulls up next to you and you say "Yeah. I bought a real expensive Toyota".

The description says paduk web, covers and logo so I have to assume they are inlays.

If I was going to spend $4500 why not go big and go for the Alembic or the Warwick Buzzard bass.

Still unless I was in a tribute band like the OP I probably wouldn't get any of them. I would think people, especially Who fans, would expect that if you have a bass like that you better bring it like the Ox did or you're just a wanna be.

Didn't we have a thread about these basses a while back?

Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it.

IF they are offering you a Spyder, snatch that sucker up! A limited run of 25 means it's gonna be worth something one day. You must rock exceedingly much for them to offer one of those as an endorsement.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth; free is good, and congratulations on the endorsement deal. Soon we'll see you in an ad in BP.

Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song.

It'll be worth even more if it has Spyder written on it :)
