rockkeys Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 The "Born in the USA" stuff is all cs-80. Can anyone recommend a polysynth that comes close to the cs-80 sound? Thanks.
Sven Golly Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 It's a shame your .sig is what it is... I've got all those patches done for numerous current synths. Oh well... your loss.

Bridog6996 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Arturia makes a CS80 plugin. You could try the software route. Never used it, though, so I can't speak to it's authenticity regarding the CS80 sound. You can probably get virtually any polysynth to sound "close" if you try hard enough. My YouTube Channel
rockkeys Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 Not good with laptops. Someone nearby is selling an oberheim matrix 6 for $250. I may use it for the gig depending on how hard it is to program.
DanL Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I used to do that on a JX10. I think that any workstation/rompler/VA keyboard can get close to that sound. Outkaster Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 What are you using for the Jenco Celeste sounds, organ and piano. Those are paramount for that sound. Do you have two keyboard players. Bill H. Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 You can probably get virtually any polysynth to sound "close" if you try hard enough. Yep. For a cover band... c'mon. Grab something you're proficient at programming, roll up your sleeves, and go for it.
rockkeys Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 I'm just covering the b-3/synth parts. There is someone else doing the Bittan parts. I have access to a JX-10 with a pg-800 programmer, so I should be able to get something that resembles a cs-80.
Analogaddict Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 This is quite interesting, I'm preparing the same gig right now - B3 & synths in a Springsteen tribute band. I'm going to try and do everything (except B3) with my PC3... Keep the suggestions coming! :-)
Outkaster Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I wish I had that problem. You have to have two keyboard players to do it well. I wish I could in the situation I am now but it sounds lame with one person trying to play 3 or 4 parts. "Danny, ci manchi a tutti. La E-Street Band non e' la stessa senza di te. Doc Tonewheel Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Didn't Keyboard recently have an article on how to create the Born in the USA sound using a VST?
Analogaddict Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Yep, it's on the website, just like an earlier tutorial on the "Dancing In The Dark" CS80...
