First Student!

I'm a little pumped. A friend, the domestic partner of a guitarist buddy, approached me about bass lessons. I don't think I could have wished for a better first student; motivated, smart, knowledgeable about music already as a fan/listener (she loves Otis Rush!). She came to me because she wants to learn theory and how to read and her man doesn't know that stuff. [insert cheap-shot guitarist joke here. Victor is very good and a very sweet man, so I'll refrain.] They agreed that I was the guy to come to because "Chad really knows his stuff."

So I'm happy about this, that's all, and really looking forward to getting started!

Yeah, well, I'm going to maintain that "Chad really knows his stuff" charade as long as I possibly can...Truthfully, it was a lovely ego boost and I', just going to have to try and live up to it. The nice part is that Destiney knows nothing and I know a little more than that, so I can get her started, anyway...

I only began teaching about 3-4 years ago eventhough I have been playing for 4 decaces. Rising to the task to be a good teacher has benifited me prbably much more than than my students. It has encouaged me to be well equiped and know the subject. Helping someone else is great but improving oneself is very rewarding also. My own knowlege of Music Theory has grown beyond my wildest dreams. Have fun.
