In my recent look into virtual instruments I stumbled on the VMachine. Seems it had significant shorcomings but the principal appeals to me. What else falls into this category?

Muse Receptor. I have one. I love being able to play VSTs at a gig, bit the Receptor has significant shortcomings as well.

I use a Receptor as well - in fact it is pretty much the cornerstone of my live rig. My approach for live use is generally to have a small pallette of high quality sounds available in one "Snapshot" - which I can then switch between instantly - as opposed to loading and unloading samples during a gig.

For gigs where I use ONLY the Receptor as a sound source I have it set up thusly:

Track one: Ivory or Sampletekk's TBO.

Track two: VB-3

Track three: Scarbee Wurly and VKFX

Track four: Omnisphere

Track five: Left blank - this is for when I have an upper keyboard playing organ and I want my lower keyboard to be the lower manual.

Track six: Kontakt with various mellotron sounds

Track seven: Pianoteq Rhodes with Scarbee VKFX

Master EFX: Paris EQ

That is it.

MOSTLY, I use if for Piano and Wurly with either a Nord Electro 3 or Hammond XK-3 on top. But sometimes, just a controller and Receptor. (And a Voce V5 to control the Vb3 drawbars.)

In the studio - I also have other VSTS loaded onto it that I make use of.....MiniMonstah, M-Tron, Scarbee Rhodes, various efects, etc.....

Works like a charm. Does not crash ever, as long as I load a blank program, then load this snapshot, and do not leave it for the duration of the gig.

At some point I may switch to a MacBookPro, but for now, what I have suits my needs, and sounds great.

Yes I saw that one too on Youtube. Looks like it was around a while ago and probably not anymore.

What?

Obviously you're either not reading the vast quantity of information that exists in this forum, or you haven't bothered to do much research at all before posting your question.

Clonk here, so we don't have to rewrite the many threads that have discussed this subject for you. :thu:

Sven, as a matter of fact I did notice after I posted that comment, that indeed the receptor is still available. I didn't however think is was worthy of an edit. Not everything I post gets fully researched before it is posted though when I can I usually try. Sometimes for example I post on my phone when I am away from a real keyboard, a proper brower, and a decent broadband service.
