If I remember correctly the actual color of the knobs (which the picture may have altered slightly) was hot pink. I think Ibanez was kind of doing a "Jem-lite" thing with some of the RGs at that time and neon green, yellow and pink were the three colors (besides black) of the Jem.

Sweet guitar.

Yes the control knobs are hot pink-I got one of the first `lifetime guarantee` cables from Team, in hot pink, to go with it.

that was a fun guitar, if I hadn`t picked up my Charvel later it would have been an alternate choice.

Hey SC-I am going to be attending the amazing Japan Music Instrument Fair this year-it is a total must-see event. Let me know if you`re available, it would be fun to meet up:

From 1991-you can see how subtle the paint job is :D

The other guy in the pic was my roommate at the time.

Sweet! my favorite color too.

what is weird is i presently have the sister guitar to your former 550, my RG 560. and there is a Charvel in my future if everything works out. that is all i am sayin.

What were ya plugging that neon-colored bad-boy into, Skip?

There is a natural symmetry between having an Ibanez of that species and a Charvel. One or the other or both would be as surprising as breakfast.

I remember mentioning it a long time ago, but this guitar was not mine-the drummer in our band had a connection to a music store and it was literally handed to me right off the shelf for about six months.

i sold the Ibanez to get cash freed up for my Charvel. i like RG's but the Charvel has all the Fender appointments i am most comfortable with. like the neck and body shape.

If I recall corrrectly I was `amp-challenged` at the time-probably something along the lines of a Roland JC.

Ouch, I feel for ya, man! (I kinda sorta, oh, HATE Roland JC amps... ) I feel slightly "`amp-challenged`" with my Carvin Vintage 33, and it's MARVELOUS compared to the awful feel and tone of those Roland JC's!!

(Now, as SS amps go, the Roland Blues Cube series is actually pretty nice... )

Hey SC-

Good to hear from you, yeah it was bad, if I hadn`t taken my bicycle to work I would have had the same transportation nightmare. My coworker had to walk for an hour to get home. Another friend was at the Kirin brewery in Yokohama, he got trapped there overnight-and they wouldn`t let him drink any beer, even if he bought it outside.

The situation is still developing, I hope you stay out of the mess.

Ya, I am pretty happy with my guitars, even if I don`t have most of them with me. The `next phase` for me, especially for live stuff, is getting my amp situation sorted. The fact of moving around, and having limited space, has kept that from getting the attention it deserves.

Y'know, a good digital-modeler, with some good full-sized/circumnaural headphones, and some good pedals, could be just the good thing for your good guitars in small places and frequent mobilization. And that could even work surprisingly well "live", if connected to a good PA; Good Stuff could result...

Naaa, Vern's ESPs (and later Hamers) were and are cool. Certainly cooler than some of the things that Zak Wylde has turned up with!
