HammondDave Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 The problem is, if the right side of the organ has the same amount of sun damage as the bench, then you are looking at $2000+ to properly refinish the organ. B3bluesman59 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Or you could just ignore the sun fade and play what appears to be one of the nicest '59 B3's/Leslie's I have ever seen. Sun fade? Forget it.
LX88 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Depending on what area of the country you live in sun fade damage repair on a B-3 does not necessarily have to cost 2000 dollars per side. The square foot area of the side of a B-3 is actually not that large. There are a couple different methods of making this type of repair. I have seen colored lacquers used which is the simplest way, or the side of the organ can be stripped and matched by dying the wood. I am in the Pacific Northwest and there are a couple guys I know who can do this for a reasonable price. Ken Martz out of Classic Pianos in Portland Oregon is one. There is also a real good guy who used to work out of Harmon's piano shop ...Henry...don't know his last name but was real good with using toning lacquers to match finishes without having to strip it.
Threadslayer Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Wow. What a honey. The insides look brand new. Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. -Mark Twain
