Squier JV vs Fender JV

Hi again.

I might be buying a Squier JV from the early 80s but wondered if you guys know how they compare to Fender JVs? Is it simply the case that all JV serial guitars are particularly good or is it just the Fenders?

I've looked around on different sites but I'm still confused. Could you tell me what you know please?

Thanks guys.

[font:Comic Sans MS]Stoppitt! Yer makin' me want a tasty vintage-y Strat![/font] _ :rawk:

(Hmmmnnn... ever notice that Chris Griffin and the "Rawk" guy- :rawk: - are both Lefties... ?)

Now, I had THOUGHT that ALL of the "Japan Vintage" Strats were Squiers (and, of course, made in Japan under contract)...

And I THOUGHT that there were no Fender/NON-Squier "Vintage Japan" Strats, and I THOUGHT that those Fender Strats often referred to as "JV" Strats were all Jimmie Vaughan signature-model Strats...

____

But I guess I was wrong?! I learned somethin' today! (Actually I learn somethin'- and find out that I was wrong about somethin'- several times each day... )

And to add to that confusion, I believe, if memory serves, that there were ALSO Squier "by Fender" Jimmie Vaughan signature-model Strats...

Not to be FURTHER confused with "MIJ"- "Made In Japan"- Fender Strats... !!

Go here for LOADS of VJ information... !

the JV signifies Japan Vintage. these early Japanese made Fenders were very accurate models patterned after vintage Strats, so much it blew Fenders minds. i believe they were very early 80's. shortly after the Squiers has a SQ designation. they are damn sweet guitars in build quality. my early 80's Squier was built like a brick shithouse.

maybe this will help
