Tusker Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 For those of us who play and love the Nord products, these videos are an interesting look into their factory and into their philosophy ... http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/Clavia_Tour/ It's easy to see why my 12 year old Nord product is still behaving as well as the day I received it. Cheers, Jerry
Dglavko Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Awesome - all those Nords just waiting for their owners... kind of my fantasy of what I'd imagine Santa's workshop full of busy elves would look like! Interesting how the furniture in the background resembled Ikea (also Swedish right?) in design. Fortunately, Nord's standards are light years beyond what Ikea will ever be (oops - wrong forum for this)
Sven Golly Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Fortunately, Nord's standards are light years beyond what Ikea will ever be (oops - wrong forum for this) If Ikea were to adopt Nord's pricing, you'd see a vastly different level of quality, I'm sure.
Mogut Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 without hijacking this thread... It reminded me of this video I saw a while back. A clip of a Yamaha asia factory. Mostly the video is about mg mixers, but about midway thru there is a great montage of keyboard assembly (electone), poweramps, speakers, mixers. anyways, if anyone interested http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/Multimedia/mgmixers.htm -Greg Motif XS8, MOXF8, Hammond XK1c, Vent Rhodes Mark II 88 suitcase, Yamaha P255
Ken Beaumont Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 If Ikea were to adopt Nord's pricing, you'd see a vastly different level of quality, I'm sure. Yes but would you still have to assemble it? Boards: Kurzweil SP-6, Roland FA-08, VR-09, DeepMind 12 Modules: Korg Radias, Roland D-05, Bk7-m & Sonic Cell

I think it works the other way... if Ikea were to adopt Nord's quality, you'd see a vastly different level of pricing, I'm sure.
rappa29 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 The R&D room in the 3rd video is awesome!! The temperature tests make me very confident about my NE3 surviving outdoor gigs in the FL summer!

I think it works the other way... if Ikea were to adopt Nord's quality, you'd see a vastly different level of pricing, I'm sure. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Either way, comparing Ikea to Nord solely based on them being Swedish is spurious and nonsensical. Anyhoo.... moving on.
Tusker Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 If Ikea were to adopt Nord's pricing, you'd see a vastly different level of quality, I'm sure. With due respect, this statement has it backwards: Post hoc ergo propter hoc. The tail cannot wag the dog in any competitive industry. I agree with Lerber: pricing flows more readily from quality than quality from pricing. Nice to see the Yamaha video too.

Tusker Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 I wonder if electro-music was down temporarily? On this pc, the links are working now.
yannis D Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Gear porn... (Link works now) Be grateful for what you've got - a Nord, a laptop and two hands
