ABECK Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 So, in a genius move yesterday, I managed to drop a guitar pick between two keys and down it went, into the Electro (don't ask). Is there a recommended way to get inside to remove the pick? I'm thinking just unscrew one of the endcaps, but wasn't sure if this would get me inside. There's also some screws on the back, but I'd like to avoid those if possible.
JeffLearman Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 It's not hard. Start on the left (low note) side and remove the two screws at the bottom of the end block. After removing them, the end block lifts away after being pulled off of two posts through a bracket at the top. That is, fiddle with it, be gentle, and it will slip right off and once it's off you'll understand. Remove the screws on the other end block and the screws along the back. Flip upside down. There are two long rows of screws at even intervals. Leave those for now; they connect the keybed to the frame. Along another line, you'll see 3 or 4 screws in a row, either two pairs or a pair and a single. Remove these. They're the last to hold the top on. Flip back upright, holding parts together. Facing the keyboard, lift up the side on your left (the one with cheek block removed). Slide a bit to the left and then lift the whole top, but not far. Tilt it back and disconnect the ribbon cable. Bingo.

ABECK Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Thanks, Learjeff. Thankfully, I only had to unscrew one endblock, then I was able to jiggle the pick out of there.
Jason Stanfield Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 So, in a genius move yesterday, I managed to drop a guitar pick between two keys and down it went, into the Electro (don't ask). CSB: When I was doing the Nord thing, a fellow called me and said something big was rattling around inside his Lead 2X. I got him to send it to me, and upon opening it, found one of those strawberry candies you always see around Christmas. Odd, but I took it out, tested the 2X, and it was fine, so I sent it back. Some time later, I learned that Sweetwater - from whom he'd bought the 2X - puts little candies inside the boxes that they ship, and in this case, the strawberry candy had somehow found its way inside the gap between the low C key and the left part of the panel. The strangest thing I found inside a Nord, though, was an unopened condom inside a Stage Compact. I didn't ask any questions. Jason Stanfield

Ken Beaumont Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 My niece loves it when I get a Sweetwater delivery! She always gets the candy, I'm diabetic! She knows how to spot that label as its coming off the truck! She loves Bit-Oh Honey! Boards: Kurzweil SP-6, Roland FA-08, VR-09, DeepMind 12 Modules: Korg Radias, Roland D-05, Bk7-m & Sonic Cell
theGman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Sweetwater: They always throw some tiny packs of random hard candy in their shipments. Ref price match, I too have been successful most the time with them; I have found that my new sales rep is harder to deal with than the previous one. I don't call them for a $ match except on major purchases. My local store here just plain sucks; doesn't stock any keyboards at all, just 1000 guitars.
Theo Verelst Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Well, I had a Lexicon MX400 for a great price sent oversees, and this wonderful piece of historic American engineering got here quick and well, but only with packaging materials, no candy...
