JeffLearman Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 The 73's are more valuable than the 88's because the 88 is so damn big and heavy. But if you have room for it and won't be moving it, that won't matter much. Since the pedal is worth more than they're asking, it's basically a free piano. It could have lots of problems that aren't evident from the photos, but it basically looks good. The coils look pinkish and not terribly corroded (the black ones at the top seem more like a photo issue than actually black coils but I'm not sure). The keyboard looks uneven -- which is typical of wood keys. Vertical alignment can be fixed, but torsional warpage, which is typical, can't. For those of us used to the perfect evenness of alignment on digitals, that can be offputting, but you can get used to it. (I remember how perfectly regular my CP70 seemed when it was new, and how uneven it seemed 20 years later. It hadn't changed much; what I was used to had.) Don't wait. Go for it.
Dave Ferris Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Ha...could be my old one from when I was there in StL. I had an 88 then sold it right before we moved to California in '79. https://soundcloud.com/dave-ferris https://www.youtube.com/@daveferris2709 2005 NY Steinway D Yamaha AvantGrand N3X, CP88, P515
